Pros – Fast-paced and innovative technologies. This is a great place to explore and try out new things.
Cons – The biggest con is that while most people in Engineering are very happy with their jobs, they're more than aware of the disparity between executive compensation and bonuses and their own. For instance, the employees had to take a huge cut in bonuses the last couple of years, but the executives all received nice bonuses and equity grants. Maybe that's the Silicon Valley culture where ego rules, but we SUPPOSED to be a pay-for-performance culture, not "we-get-paid-for-your-performance" culture. Personally, I'd have no problem with the execs getting huge rewards if they shared the love themselves.
Advice to Senior Management – Live up to the pay-for-performance culture you say exists. It's not just for sales. The engineers need some love as well; after all, we're the ones making the products. And by the way, a pizza party for working our asses off for weeks on end just isn't going to cut it any longer. You need to know that most people are asking, "What's in it for me?" That could kill our innovation if you don't respond to that and quickly.

Former Employee – worked at SuccessFactors
Pros – I met some great people at SuccessFactors and still keep in touch with them.
Cons – I left SuccessFactors over two years ago, Only recently did I look back at SuccessFactors and found that there was a major turnover of employees. I had no idea that so many employees left. The current situation shows that there were major problems at SuccessFactors.
I left for a better opportunity. Clearly, I saw the writing on the wall re: the direction of SuccessFactors to include layoffs, turnover and employees resigning for better opportunities. You can work an employee only so hard until he/she reaches a saturation point. Both top and middle management were very immature. They consistently micro-managed highly accomplished workers. I also observed that some workers would do anything to get ahead.
Advice to Senior Management – Learn from your mistakes before you lose the quality people that remain on board.

Pros – SFSF takes care of morale - it got voted best place to work didn't it. we got rich from IPO, invertigo @ great america, cars for MVPs, BBQs, baseball, & free legal help for engineer (hooked him up w/Fenwick).
Cons – SFSF no diff. from others cutting salary & bonuses. look at state employees w/furloughs. they're worst off.

Current Employee – been working at SuccessFactors
Pros – Sales execution culture focused on getting deals at all costs.
Cons – The hype is just too much and customers / clients are catching on which is why sales are declining.
More discipline is needed and conviction on the solutions.
Advice to Senior Management – Run the company like a real business. Take a page out of Tom Siebel's book.
