I worked at Suffolk Bancorp full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The benefits were awesome, people were great. The job is very flexible with trying to work around you. Customers are, for the most part, friendly and it makes the job even that much enjoyable. They're is always room to move up in the business.

    Cons

I think the hardest thing with the job was calling people and asking them to open up an account that some of them you knew didn't want to open and trying to find the words to use in order to perhaps change their mind.

    I worked at Suffolk Bancorp

    Pros

Decent place to start a getting the credentials to build a career. Worked here my first couple of years of college and parlayed it toward other jobs in the future.

    Cons

Not alot of reason to hang around after a couple of years if you're in school. High employee turnover here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More thorough training practices for new employees. Give raises based on performance rather than length of time people have been employed.

I have been working at Suffolk Bancorp part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Upper-level management is easily accessible, which is nice. Everyone knows everyone, and people are extremely great to work with. Each branch is like a little family, so it's great work environment. Starting salary is great for a teller.

    Cons

Benefits need some work. Not the place to work if you depend on a pension, or 401k matching. Dress code is too stuffy, and needs modernizing--knee highs. Really?

I have been working at Suffolk Bancorp

    Pros

Paycheck will be there every week, Ability to make good connections, Good pay for working as a teller in an entry level job.

    Cons

No Training Programs, Low pay for the area in general, No support from Administrative center, For such a small company, it is a hard place to become known, (of course unless for negative reinforcement, because there is no positive)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep an eye on new employees, mentoring or training programs would be an integral part in the continuation of success of the bank.
