    Pros

    Decent starting pay. Okay benefits.

    Cons

You'll be worried about keeping your job every month. Management needs an overhaul as they choose to threat there employees like animals. IMO, they are a sinking ship. Start looking for work elsewhere. This is true for there sister company Daystar Communications as well, as things are even worse there. They cannot compete and will be out of business soon.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do the right thing and resign. Let new blood come in and hopefully save the jobs of the people who made it possible for your salaries and bonuses.

    Pros

Paychecks always cleared and benefits were decent. Because of very high turnover, there's good mobility as long as you don't want to make more money. Raises are nonexistent, even COLA. Most of the people are pretty nice, but pretty stressed too. If all you want is a job, they have jobs available all the time.

    Cons

This is the worst kind of family-owned business. Not only does the 90-year-old patriarch rule with an iron hand, his otherwise unemployable failed children also hold important jobs. Number One Son David brags about a software company that he owned in Atlanta, but a simple Google search turns up that the company "forgave" a million-dollar loan just to get him to go away. With no prospects and no reputation to go on, David is now the president of the company because he was born to the right mother.

Because the senior management is all drawn from the same shallow gene pool, the company is circling the drain. Subscriptions and advertising are racing each other to the bottom. They refuse to try to build an online business, preferring instead to assume that none of their elderly subscribers will ever die off.

They take the cheapest way out of every situation, and the results show. In one example, they wouldn't spring for a true training program, so they showed YouTube videos to the staff and called it training. The software they use to run the business only has one licensed user, so everyone in the company uses the same password and sometimes it's so full you can't work.

The old man still thinks that it's 1994, so mileage reimbursement for employees is about half the current IRS rate. With gas at $3.50, you actually lose money going out on company business.

This is one of the larger employers in an area with mostly retirees and homeless people, so if you live here, you may not have a lot of choices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decide whether you want this to be a successful business. If you do, sell it to someone who will fire all the Dunn-Rankins and bring in professional management.

    Cons

1/2 of mileage allowance for industry
    No cell phone
    Low base salary

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not sure if any advice to senior management would be useful. I think it would fall on def ears.

DO NOT TAKE THIS POSITION UNLESS YOU ARE DESPERATE!!
Expectations are beyond unrealistic. Salary is an insult and below industry averages.
Be prepared to handle collections, sell theme pages, and speciality products that do not work.
You could make more bartending a few nights a week and not have to worry about meetings, ad copy, or collections.
Dying product with no on-line presence.

I have been working at Sun Coast Media Group

    Pros

It's one of the few employers locally with a stable business. They do offer partially employer paid health insurance & vacation pay. Even when customers write letters of appreciation regarding an employees committment to their professional work ethic, the employee is not made aware of these accolades. They fire lolyal employees (18 yrs.) with the explanation "it's not working out" wouldn't they have known that in perhaps 18 days, 18 months, NOT 18 years! Exceedingly poor communication between departments. They have a no retaliation policy which is a joke. They have no interest in any suggestioins regarding how to improve the company.

    Cons

No opportunity for advancement, no recognition, no employer loyalty to the employee, a veritible dictatorship!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You really need to re-think your strategy. Morale is absolutely terrible. The company seems to be heading down the drain. They harbor incomptence. The company is bleeding money yet they buy obscure newspapers in areas where the literacy rate is in single digits. They tie the hands of advertising sales people rendering them unable to afford existing cutomers advertising savings opting to rather accept current revenues rather than inviting them to spend more at a reduced rate through special contract programs. At a time when employees are struggling with lower revenues they decide to move employees further from home resulting in increased traveling expenses.
