> Focussed roles - Developers only develop features, they don't fix customer bugs. Sustenance takes care of that.

I wish Sun till existed and wasn't sold away. I hope the Sun culture is still preserved after the transition to Oracle.

Aggressive in meeting the target reveniew on every quarter, charge for the software, should change from university mind set to professional way of execution.

The work culture can be pretty casual and open. Hours are flexible.
Cons
Managers can be tyrannic, ad-hoc, and downright prejudiced/ hostile. There are no internal checks and balances to avoid this. You are fine so long as you are in the good books of your manager. Performance and personal achievements are secondary.

There is no leadership any more. Sunset.
Pros
Highly technical environment, Work life balance, excellent learning opportunity, great team work, respect to individual from management, technical expertise is appreciated, very open and transparent communication from top management, proud to be part of such a great company
Cons
lack of commercial success and revenue is disappointing, unfortunate that a great company with such technical depth is not able to cash in on its strength, my personal feeling is that the company is doing too much of charity (open source) without any significant gains (except for great PR)

Sharp focus on profit, Monetize great technologies created by SUN, Leave the kick-the-butt attitude and embrace partner and profit attitude

One of the best reasons is open work culture. Excellent techncail managers. Innovative products every 6 months.. Open source areas provide opuurtunites to great work

No downsides.. Company should recruit good marketting talent to go head in the market.

Dont make acquisitions so often.

Work Environment is good. You have a lot of flexibility. Easier to balance work and personal life.
The team is really good and there is a good level of interaction between team mambers.
Cons
As far as I know they are not trying to come up wid new technology and just relying on the good old
technologies. I wud say its better they start investing in new technologies to come up as a market keader.
