Current Employee – been working at SunGard
Pros – The people, non-management co-workers. The co-workers are very professional and a joy to work with. Each department has great employees that work well together but with tools that are inadaquate to perform their job functions.
Cons – Upper management (SVP level) is only concern with the bottom line and that is to get the money in and keep it in. No raise is higher than 4% each year and is seldom given to the staff that deserves it. In most cases the management rather have you get the product out without understanding the full concept of each product. There is a revolving door at Sungard.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your managers, don't over work your workers. Let go of products that are not producing properly and improve on those that have made money for SunGard.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at SunGard full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Plenty of different technology to learn. Schedule gives plenty of days off.
Cons – No leadership qualities in management. No accountability. Projects are rarely fully thought through. A lot of micromanagement, does not promote a culture of creative thinking unless in a clique.
Very few written processes or impossible to find if they have been written. Feedback on how the process is working is not asked from the people that are required to follow it.
Lower Management promotes Favoritism.
Advice to Senior Management – Promote cross-pollination of information between different departments. Change the mindset of pushing back tickets to the original assigning group to moving the ticket forward. It's all of our jobs to help the customer.

Current Employee – been working at SunGard full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Was a good copany to work for, my product is closing on end of life, and there are no propects else where in the company for me, strange for such a large company
Cons – no inter company movement, or mechanism is in place, or, it is very hard to find
Advice to Senior Management – inter company movement, needs to be improved, I have heard for years that it is iproving, but I have not seen any improvement

Current Employee – been working at SunGard full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – SunGard, Recovery Services, is an exciting environment that allows technicians full freedom to learn and do things that most folks only dream about. Due to our hands on approach we learn more in 6 months across more enterprise equipment than most people do in production for years. The excitement of recovering clients during a disaster is like no other workplace - you know you're doing good by helping out companies and ultimately, people.
Cons – Management talks about caring and that people are valuable. Unfortunately that's only talk, it always, always, comes down to money for them.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop pretending that your employees are important. Either do it or be truthful about it. You'll get more respect as a result.

Current Employee – been working at SunGard full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – - Great to get experience.
- People you work with are nice and smart.
- Facilities are more than OK.
Cons – - Lack of strategy : today is "do what we were doing yesterday" even if everybody acknowledged that it is no longer working.
- Package is below average/median.
- No carrier management. You see the HR department twice, first and last day, and your manager has no say on his/her budget nor carrier development paths.
Advice to Senior Management – Top managers: stop focusing on the IPO and check the mid-management, right now they are left to their own device with very little success.

Pros – Nice benefits. If you can work with little direction and feedback it is an ok job. Great point solutions.
Cons – Lack of clear direction, defined roles and common goals. Lack of communication between the C-level and the workers. The company tends to position the lower paid workers to take ownership to figure it out, with out being full educated on the company business plan. people are not paid based by value or workloads. Unrealistic workloads.
Advice to Senior Management – Why do we need so much management if management can not give clear direction or make business changes?

Current Employee – been working at SunGard full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – There are no pros to working here...
Cons – Low salaries, no opportunity for advancement, poorly developed software solutions, management team that is not open to new ideas, micro-management from the top down.
Advice to Senior Management – Open your eyes. When you speak of operating under the guise of best practices, you need to realize that employees that have been in the company for 30 years have no sense of best practices. Open up the door to new ideas and insights before you tank the company with your controlling silo's and your micro-management.

Former Employee – worked at SunGard full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – 6+ years of steady work
Great technologies
Strong middle management
Cons – everything above is gone .. ALL in PUNE INDIA
the upper management has blinders on running from one trend to the next spending money in India like its going out of stile and driving customers away as fast as possible . unless your part of the cloud team .
Advice to Senior Management – off shoring will kill the company. bring more jobs back to the us and give workers the ability to own a piece of the company

Former Employee – worked at SunGard full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Work Life balance
Stick around for a year and you will get a bonus and appraisal without doing much work
Cast-ism in Pune between management and employee
Cons – Upper management has no control over work content and have failed year on year.
Many good people are leaving and only old crooks who want full salary+bonus and no work are left.
No employee retention policy.
Huge cost cutting across the board in every aspect.
Sun is setting on this company and not good for career growth.
Freshers and dynamic people keep away from Sungard India
Advice to Senior Management – I dont think any advice will be taken by upper management hence none provided
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
