    Sales People Treated like "Pawns" towards The Management's Quota and Club Reservations

    Pros

    They serve Starbucks coffee...and have a nice surplus of legal pads and pens.

    Cons

    Sales Compensation and Quotas are not in line with the Industry trends and the "solution selling" messaging the company subscribes to.

    Advice to Management

    Try to actually listen to the Sales People on what is going on and work accordingly to streamline instead of making "gut" like decisions or picking favorites when driving opportunities.

    Pros

    Tenure is valued highly. The longer you work here the less likely you will be dismissed. Tenure, called loyalty, is valued higher than productivity or creativity.

    Cons

    The management refuses to engage employees with employee concerns. They dictate what will be good for the employee with a one size fits all approach. When requests or suggestions are raised, they are flatly refused. When employees indicate what can be improved, the suggestions go ignored. The pillars (company values) are given a verbal significance, but ultimately are not used when making decisions. Their meaning is twisted to rationalize any decision or non-decision. Upper management is open regarding decisions and benchmarking to be in the middle of the pack and then wonder why top talent is not attracted nor retained.

    Advice to Management

    If you want the best engaged talent, then offer the best engaging environment.

    Pros

    Some of the folks that work at Sungard are enjoyable to work with. The hours when employed were nice and convenient.

    Cons

    The Management is absolutely heartless. When Sungard acquired Comdisco, they of course promised the world. They decided to fire people the week before christmas. Made a comment to my manager which he didn't like. F' him. I hate this place.

    Retire

    Good group of people to work with.

    Flat structure, very little career movement.

    Advice to Management

    Pay more or lose your top consultants to the competition.

    Pros

    The benefit package is competitive and they have a very good 401K. Co workers are friendly and there is always plenty of work to be done.

    Cons

    Lack of flexibility No communication Constant reorganization The environment feels more like that of a kindergarten than an office, employees treated like children, scolded for various actions, like that of a child Workload distribution is uneven, many have nothing to do while a few select employees have more to do than they can complete in an eight hour day Overtime is encouraged and admired, hours worked are broadcasted by many as an accomplishment, it almost feels like a competition on who can work the most

    Advice to Management

    Treat those that work hard with respect and remove those that do not Communicate better with employees Realize that some who log in long hours are milking the system and stretching out their responsibilities. This is partially in response to low to no raise etc. Provide a career path Stop trying to pacify employees with hollow remarks on how management is taking steps to improve morale, we are smarter than that and it sounds ridiculous. We know change will never happen, its the Sungard way. Odd behaviors are overlooked and almost encouraged.

    Pros

    SunGard provides free snacks, soda, coffee and water. Most prisoners are grateful for this.

    Cons

    Management is more concerned with cutting expenses than increasing revenue.

    Advice to Management

    Get out of the way and let those who understand the business do the work needed to increase revenue. Don't just pay lip service to customer retention, product quality and employee satisfaction.

    Pros

    They are OK with work/life balance, but only because senior management isn't engaged in employee's lives enough to comment on it.

    Cons

    They'll get micromanagement oriented if they see you coming in late or leaving early, regardless of how valuable you are and how good a job you do. People, particularly management, take extra-long cigarette breaks and call them "meetings." Put on a good, professional game face every day, act like you worship the leadership in the office, and don't try to have fun at what you do - that way, you'll be fine.

    Advice to Management

    Get down to earth and real. You make working here a chore and act like it's a privilege, rather than mentoring and supporting your employees and their growth.

    Pros

    The people, non-management co-workers. The co-workers are very professional and a joy to work with. Each department has great employees that work well together but with tools that are inadaquate to perform their job functions.

    Cons

    Upper management (SVP level) is only concern with the bottom line and that is to get the money in and keep it in. No raise is higher than 4% each year and is seldom given to the staff that deserves it. In most cases the management rather have you get the product out without understanding the full concept of each product. There is a revolving door at Sungard.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your managers, don't over work your workers. Let go of products that are not producing properly and improve on those that have made money for SunGard.
