I worked at SunGard full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice perks: Can work from home from time to time, great gifts on your 5-10-15 years at work.

    Smart developers

Constantly improving the release cycle and following the best practices.

    Cons

Re-organization can happen frequently so this can be stressful.

Depending on the above, you can have a manager that doesn't share the same vision or ideas at all with the previous one so you will need to adapt.

I have been working at SunGard full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

A fantastic place to start your career and learn from one of the most highly skilled staff in the industry. Great opportunities to pick or choose the work that you would be interested in and given responsibilities straight away. Good work-life balance with flexible work times as long as you finish the tasks assigned on time.

    Cons

Benefits don't tend to go up with the amount of experience you gain. Depending on which segment you are on, there is little opportunity to go to different products, move up in the organisation and expand your horizons.

Current Employee - Sales Executive in London, England (UK)
Current Employee - Sales Executive in London, England (UK)

I have been working at SunGard full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - In many ways a social environment with flexible hours
    - There are some very strong products within the company which can sell well.
    - Good company to work for if you like a strong sales environment, if you don't and want to build longer term client relationships SunGard can be challenging.

    Cons

    - First and foremost a very sales orientated organisation. Which doesn't need to be a bad thing, but as of late it has become sales for the sake of sales without the necessary development in the product and this is bad. Whether this has historically always been this way, I do not think so but for the last 2 years this has definitely been reality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Don't lose yourself in quarterly targets, this is very dangerous for SunGard but most of all the clients. To achieve the best results for clients targets should be flexible over a 1 to 2 year period.
    - Don't be afraid to axe managers who are fundamentally ill equipped to handle their position.
    - Create a more open environment where all are capable of voicing their concerns.

    Recommends
