    I worked at SunGard full-time

    Pros

The company has a lot of money because they are in finance and they can offer good salaries. Good position and fancy environment in the offices. Nice to find some people abroad with whom you can work later.

    Cons

The local management in Belgrade actually doesn't exist, there is only "the boss", which is the top and only manager, previous owner of the company that SunGard bought. He pulls all the threads, everybody responds to him and he can be quite rude and personally offensive if he wants. Management from UK and US doesn't care about employees as long as most of the work is delivered. Technology is pretty archaic, not much to learn.

    Advice to Management

Get actual management in Belgrade and change current one

    Negative Outlook

I worked at SunGard full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Annual sales conference in the US

    Cons

Rubbish IT, aggressive selling techniques, bullying management in the US, no meaningful client relationships. Only targets were to hit the phone 100 times a day. No wonder they are losing business

    Advice to Management

Change your philosophy. Nobody wants to deal with a company who treat their staff and customers with contempt

I have been working at SunGard (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work/life balance. Generally easy going atmosphere but with the upcoming IPO they have been cost cutting

    Cons

Pay is not going to keep or attract talent. Poor benefits packages. No employee profit sharing or equity compensation except at senior management levels, Stodgy mindset and slow moving. Technology is a decade behind and only changes due to end of life issues related to support. There's no real career path when you become mid level. All business units are very silo-ed - and cross product integration is nearly nonexistent. SunGard was constructed like a Frankenstein monster - bought and assembled via acquisition. Little organic innovation and innovation and forward thinking is neither rewarded nor is it encouraged.

    Advice to Management

Increase performance based compensation. Get rid of long time employees which can not think outside of the box. Get rid of dead wood and increase pay with those cost savings. Hire talent and allow for innovation. Reward creativity and focus on organic internal growth.

I have been working at SunGard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The appraisal process is very straightforward and allows for a clear and transparent career path. The pay is good compared to the competition.

    Cons

Work-life balance may not be the best, although it's probably on par with the sector. The software product may not be the best in the sector and it doesn't look like it will be improved in the short term.

    Advice to Management

    Sometimes communication could be improved.
