    Pros

Rigorous code review and coding standards, and a well structured automated build and code depot.

    Cons

Very insular group, not much room for upward mobility. Software products were clean but failed to maintain traction in the marketplace.

    Pros

Good coworkers Work/Life balance Good locations with easy access to public transportation

    Cons

Lack of career growth opportunities Management fails to set goals Wages are stagnant and below market rates Toxic atmosphere at some offices due to bad managers

    Advice to Management

Work harder at getting your employees motivated and provide avenues to let them use their creativity. Allow for greater interaction between units. It would be great to be able to use an affiliate's software to improve business processes.

    Pros

Company with big plans. They wanted to be a major players in all aspects of electronic trading. And they were well positioned to do so

    Cons

They were basically a software company trying to now play the equity market. They did not know how that is done. They did not know the value of risk.

    Advice to Management

You buy businesses as you go along. Either let them do what they are good at, or learn the system yourself and adapt

    Pros

Large company with solid reputation and some great products. Some great people, but also a lot of middle management dinosaurs blocking the career paths.

    Cons

The private equity team want to float this company but its too big so needs to be split up. The revenue is being squeezed to reduce the debt which means employees come second to cost cutting.

    Advice to Management

Stop the death by a thousand cuts - work out your plan and just get the reorg over with.

    Pros

The pay and benefits were above average compared to other financial service firms in the Saint Louis area. The also had a very liberal vacation plan.

    Cons

Management turnover as well as the bankruptcy of Bridge trading led to many layoffs and firing. The compensation package offered to those let go was sub-par

    Advice to Management

Bridge management did not appreciate diversity nor encourage new ideas from its employees. In the trading department, management was not transparent on why certain decisions were made

Former Employee - Client Relationship Manager in Jersey City, NJ

I worked at SunGard Trading and Risk Systems

    Pros

Good staff, some great, a type of job where you dive right in and learn. Sort of like being thrown in a pool and you have to be a self starter to survive

    Cons

They dont really care too much about how much work you have or there clients when you express how burdened you are with workload. They have a "do what you can attitude and eventually it means you lose some clients. They seem to take action when its almost too late

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your staff
