Pros
Great people to work with. I loved my manger and Assistant manager. Even My Teller coordinator.
Cons
Not enough pay for the amount of work you put out. The area manager is really pushy for sales. She never spoke to the teller line. She would just walk pass us as though we weren't there.
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Great benefits!!! The clients come to love you as if you we're their own child. Vacation days are paid! There is a clear route for advancement, but . . .
Cons
Do not expect management to open those doors for you easily. Management simply does not care what you think about anything. It is their way or you are out the door. Sick days are paid, but one is written up if they use too many of them. Some management has unrealistic expectations of what is timely possible to complete thrughout the day.
Advice to Senior Management
Get a clue and listen to your employees, before there is a mutiny on your hands.
Pros
nice people but not very organized
Cons
declining bonus structure even for top performers
Pros
learning experience in how to achieve results
Cons
must perform or be fired
Pros
Good hours and benefits, convenient locations.
Cons
Outdated equipment to deal with. PPI scores (customer service). Now implemented, you can get 8 - 10 good scores, one bad one and you and your whole team must attend a "punishment" meeting. It is not called that, but you must attend on an evening meeting during the week for one hour. This meeting continues weekly until your scores come up for the month. Customers score you from one to 10, if a client gives an 8, it is the equivalent of a "0". Suntrust wants 90+, or your in trouble. Then you start again next month. If someone gets consistently bad scores, obviously they need help in getting their priorities straight. However for those who get consistently good scores, it is detrimental to make those same people attend these night time meetings. You can't, in this case, treat a whole banking location as one. There is no incentive for those doing a good job to keep doing that good job if they must attend these meetings also. Suntrust must learn to deal directly with the problem employees, or employees who are not doing their best. It is unjust to make everyone in the same location deal with a problem they have no control over. Not to mention the Gallop poles that are done make no sense. This whole system must be rethought. They expect you to attend even if you have to arrange more child care, or baby sitting, change your plans each week to fit Suntrust's last minute meetings in the evening. Do all areas have this bad program?
Advice to Senior Management
Need upper management that knows how to encourage its employees with positive reinforcement, not negatives all the time. Our area's management is very negative and unfair in the way the enforce their rules and regulations. Give your good employees a break and just deal with people who need additional training by themselves. Suntrust's Management has seen a revolving door in a particular area and needs to train its management in how to handle its employees effectively.
Pros
Decent benefits
Free premium bank accts
Discounts of financial services
Growth opportunties
Learning opportunties (if you're willing to learn from minor mistakes instead of pouting - all the better!)
Ability to help and educate customers on their finances
Cons
Tough sales goals
Managing styles are not consistent from branch to branch, causing some branches to be great to work at while some have your nerves on the edge.
Staff reduction, not replacing positions if someone leaves. Leaving branches very understaffed and overworked.
Advice to Senior Management
Better training for branch management positions. There are no manager or assistant manager classes that focus extensively on LEADERSHIP, how to speak to employees or even the ABC's of bank management.
Pros
Good caring company with long term employees.
Cons
Limited growth opportunity and career advancement
Advice to Senior Management
Need to think outside the box to stay competitive
Pros
good benefits
vacation/sick leave
opportunities for advancement
Cons
experience depends on management
pushing sales; even if you try your best, they keep asking for more
Pros
Great benefits. Fantastic work/ life balance. Good compensation.
Cons
If you are a software developer, stay away from this company. Most existing development work is outsourced. All new development is also outsourced. Senior management in IT is too old and full of 'mainframe dinosaurs' to provide any leadership . Hence they are in a rush to outsource everything.
Advice to Senior Management
Get some young folks who understand the current technology trends and encourage in- house development.
Pros
Good benefits.
Excellent logistical support.
Coworkers can be fun.
Solid Pay.
Cons
Bullies in management
Process police drain the life out of you.
Technology is behind the times.
Fear of change.
Fear of developers because they represent change.
Most development work is outsourced. Expect to clean up the mess.
You lack the tools and access required to do your job.
Expect to work on the weekends.
Not very coordinated.
You get kicked in the dick by management for trying to help. How many times can that happen before you get sick of it?
You must be extremely precise in your communication. Choose your words carefully.
Its better to not act than to act.
Not a good place to learn.
Fear based management.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees. I don't think that happens very much.
