    Pros

Great Company, Great Energy - there's been good change in the last few years, better leaders, better directions, I feel a part of the purpose.

    Cons

Stretch too thin at times and the company wide sourcing is weak, sometimes easy things are a hassle.

    Advice to Management

Keep going on asking teammates to be great and the networks are fun - although sometimes it seems like too many activities at once. We need better more comprehensive training and on boarding for new employees and follow-up training yearly - STU seems like a joke at times.

    Pros

The company provides several free web based training courses to encourage employees to develop career goals or update job skills. Very good matching 401K plan.

    Cons

Informal training. Extremely production and deadline driven stretching employees very thin.

    Advice to Management

More focus on developing and valuing your strongest employees.

    Pros

Some departments allow flexible work arrangements You can be hired with little or no experience for virtually any position (good for recent grads) If you are an above average worker you will stand out Talented employees identify with one another, so your professional network will expand as they leave STM and join similar industries Ideal for an individual who just wants to punch the clock and go home

    Cons

Technology is outdated Management is retroactive vs proactive Many employees are there just to retire Salaries are below average, so get your money coming in the door Despite a heavier workload, internal promotions do not come with commensurate salaries Advancement is based on the good ol' boy system (brown nosing welcome) The culture is different at STM despite failed attempts by executive management to align with the progression, goals, and initiatives of the parent brand (STI)

    Advice to Management

Invest in the people and the culture will change Seek talent not friends Go to a technology conference Mirroring competitors strategies for success does not work if you only use imagery and not action

    Pros

Great atmosphere to work in. I had some of the best co-workers.

    Cons

The company's approach to mentoring and training employees needs a serious overhaul. Their attendance policies need to be less restrictive. They need to know that people get sick especially in a call center environment!!!

This place could be so much more than it is... if it truly wanted to be and was willing to learn how.

    Pros

Yay, you got a job! It's as a contractor and not as an employee, so you're not really one of 'them' and aren't paid as much as you otherwise would/should be, and you can't use the gym... : ( But yay, you got a job!

    Cons

Stagnant growth; unqualified managers too secure in their position; no job security - everyone is at least partly aware that they could be let go at any moment; creativity is NOT appreciated - especially when it comes from those who are far better educated than the leaders you have on your team; a lack of a sense of trust exists between team members, depending.

    Advice to Management

Quality output comes from quality input. But if you are not capable of appreciating or even recognizing quality input, it is because you yourself are not that for the organization and so are in need of greater professional growth than you are conscious of. In the meantime, don't retaliate against those who are team players and actually believe in the good that an organization can be. "As iron sharpens iron, so are we to sharpen one another." Let that take place, even within yourselves.
