I worked at SunTrust full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I built some great relationship with the customers via long term retention building. It open the door for some strong sales leads and the ability to develop strong good leads.

    Cons

Management was very poor and not well trained. They were constantly pressured the employee to produce even thought banking was ungoqing some fundamental changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The should undergo more training on the retail floor.

I worked at SunTrust full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people I worked with were wonderful, caring individuals. I absolutely loved meeting the clients and helping them, even when a sale was not made.

    Cons

The focus has gone from putting client first (which they still say they do), to putting the sales first. The pressure coming down from management is all about the sales! And the expectations are unrealistic for the most part! The incentives are great, but only of you are perfect. Pay increases are a joke!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come spend an honest day IN the branch and see how well your staff really does! The people you have working for the bank are extraordinary and should not be tossed aside and treated/threatened the way they are! You are losing very good talent with the decisions you are making and they are going to work with the competition, and take your clients with them!

I worked at SunTrust full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Convenient location downtown
    Bank holidays
    Opportunity to learn financial technology

    Cons

Shark eat shark - not a friendly place in some departments.
Some managers treat their employees with disdain, almost as if they are unwanted children instead of valued employees/co-workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show that you value your employees, instead of treating them like misbehaving school children.

I have been working at SunTrust full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good benefits, convenient work location, the staff is okay and the company is located in different cities within Georgia.

    Cons

The processes for getting work done are long, cumbersome and most times unnecessary. Too many administrative hoops just to get any work done. Lack of growth potential. This company typically does not promote from within.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve the process for promoting internal employees.

I have been working at SunTrust full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Hours, benefits and paid holidays.

    Cons

    1. Constant shortage/turnover of branch employees 2. Poor employee support infrastructure 3. Management prioritizes sales before clients best interest. 4. Employees are often kept out of the loop regarding corporate, product and policy or implementation change. 5. Employee responsibilities, sales goals, hours and roles constantly increase without salary compensation or regard to staff shortage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managements should not withhold employees quarterly bonuses; If the branch is short on employees managers should know how to run a teller window to alleviate long lines; Managers should lead by example and place the client above their own self-interests.

I worked at SunTrust full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I enjoyed being able to help people when I could. Salary and benefits were pretty good.

    Cons

Having to try to force expensive products and services that struggling clients didn't need felt awful. It goes against trying to help clients when you have to try to talk them into things that result in more/higher fees that they already cannot afford. The attitude that a client is not a "real client" unless you can get a sale out of them shows how little they actually care about their clients.

Employees are belittled and yelled at in front of other employees and clients regularly. How exactly is this supposed to improve performance?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Readjust your focus to the people (both employees and clients). Clients that feel like they can get help rather than a high-pressure sales pitch when they are struggling will be clients for life.

Regardless of sales employees deserve to be treated with basic human respect. A little bit of this will go a long way.

    Pros

    None none none none none

    Cons

Where to start? Poor leadership, no direction, initiatives change every three months, doESN't live up to promises made IN WRITING, demands perfect customer service without giving employees the proper tools or discretion to give good service, expects you to act like a robot, sets impossibly high goals, doesn't staff branches properly to achieve sales goals or satisfaction targets.
