    Pros

Other than a paycheck, I liked some of the people in the department.

    Cons

Open work environment - no cubicle walls, or separation between departments. Meritocracy - the Bank calls 3% stellar raises. Lack of Diversity - especially in middle management (yes, the people I am referring to had more management experience than the current nimrod in the management position). Restructing/Layoffs - outsourced jobs, most underwriting/credit analysis is processed offshore (cannot name contractor). The common sense approach - invest and retrain employees. Loans - Documents are produced offshore. The technology to do so is greater than twenty five years old. Must use multiple systems (three). Different story to auditors. Compliance - Gamblers. Push the edge however not over the cliff because it would alert regulators. Time Sheets - OT is frowned upon. You are expected and instructed to adjust your work schedule so the Bank does not have to pay you 1 1/2 times your hourly rate. Yes, I was a non-exempt officer of the Bank Very Political - As long as you drink the Kool Aid, turn a blind eye to the truth, and accept responsibility for others, you will probably remain gainfully employed. Career Opportunities - If you move within the Bank, do not expect to receive more than a 4% raise.

    Advice to Management

You are worse than a four year old misbehaving in a Kmart.

    Pros

Good name recognition. Stable company with good financials who appear to care for their employees. Their market share allows for deeper share of wallet with their clients and their employees are hard working engaged employees.

    Cons

Their vision seems to be unfocused...trying to be all things to all people. The end result is that you have many different roles with not the best fit of talent to role. Management needs leaders who can better assess and recognize talent and place them appropriately to avoid a mismatch of roles and allow for better career pathing.

    Advice to Management

Management must place better controls on assessment tools to ensure the right people with the proper skill sets are in the roles that best suit them.

Great benefits and hours. If you get a great manager it makes all the difference. Nice and clean work environment.

    Cons

Middle Management issues and who they hire to be management. Treating adults like children. Listen to those who actually do the job not just upper management.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees

    Pros

Two weeks vacation was nice. 401k with match was a plus. Allowed for 1-hour lunches. (woohoo, right? -_- )

    Cons

The company was so performance focused that they failed to understand our local market. Sales numbers were pushed so heavily that the company didn't take into account the condition the workers were in. For example, our market was exceptionally saturated with banks. 20+ banks, national and local alike, existed at the time in my area. There were even more credit unions, as you can imagine. Our sales numbers for loan closings and account openings were so high that even with a full-fledged marketing campaign and tellers, personal bankers, managers, etc., knocking door to door for accounts, we wouldn't have reached them.
