I worked at Suncor as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

I had the luxury of working closely with the personnel in the office (i.e. Managers, HR, etc) and out in the plant (i.e. Operators, Mill Wrights, etc.). As the first intern, I was able to "pave the way", or at least some of it, to the future interns, which I believe is a great accomplishment. I worked for a very passionate and active EH&S Manager who challenged me and provided me with a great learning experience.

    Cons

It is a young facility that still has room for growth and development. There were worker frustrations due to "delayed" actions from upper-management.

I worked at Suncor as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The culture of the work setting is great, everybody who works there loves the firm and is really supportive. The pay is also very competitive for a 9-5 position. They have a lot of mentorship programs, will move you around into new roles every few years. 6 weeks vacation, pretty unheard of

    Cons

It is hard to get recognized for your accomplishments. Everything you do is also pretty small-time, nothing really interesting unless you love the industry. Can get lost in the size of the company and be forgotten about.
