    Pros

Salary, benefit, bonus and other incentives. Excellent training program, great opportunity for growth. Integrated oil & gas company, upstream portfolio diversified in many areas including in situ, oil sands and conventional resources.

    Cons

No hedging gets the company vulnerable to the decreasing oil price. Going through cost cutting, employee reduction, going through reorganization, in this process loosing valuable human resources after spending years of training and development on them.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. However, need to think about future strength of the organization while the company keeps loosing valuable employees in this downturn.

    Pros

Reasonable salary, good benefits, and excellent retirement savings and stock award programs.

    Cons

Too big to fail but also too big to operate with even slight efficiency. The exhausting safety mindset is the greatest fault in the system.

    Advice to Management

Half of your employees are infuriated by their inability to make change, while the other half spend their days cowering and making effort to remain invisible in order to avoid layoffs. Maintenance efficiency probably sits between 20 and 30% with the biggest hurdle being the absurdly restrictive permit system and the overwhelming fear and understanding that going above-and-beyond will get them reprimanded.

    Pros

Great people and good experience having worked at site, with vast technologies to get acquainted with.

    Cons

I found I got "pigeon holed" in the same position for 3 straight years. They preach professional development, but they are apprehensive of moving you to other role... at least in the automation team.

  8. Greak place to work

    I worked at Suncor

    Pros

Great experience working there as a co-op student. Coworkers and management were very supportive. My work was varied and challenging, and I learned a lot. Pay is also really good.

    Cons

Sometimes I had very little to do, while other times I was swamped.

    Advice to Management

    Leadership was great overall.

    Pros

Good salary. When oil price is high, everybody gets good bonus

    Cons

When oil price is low, the Company let good people, including some of top performers, go to max the saving

    Advice to Management

May want to talk to the front line manager about the performance of their workers before let them go.

    Pros

Good corp culture. Depending on the department, of course. I personally worked with great people and made great friends.

would recommend due to competitive salary. Career, not as much.

    Cons

Hard to learn. Not very keen on mentors or have any support from managers.

    Advice to Management

Be more personal with better understanding on what the team needs vs corp bottom line. This helps with the qualitative efforts. Better allocation on budgets.

    Pros

Great pay, great people, all very friendly and encouraging. Lots of extra courses are offered for free if you would like to expand your knowledge.

    Cons

When you apply for a summer position they will randomly select a position for you. So if you are an accounting major, you might get a finance job.

    Advice to Management

Overall it was a great experience. If I had to give some advice, it would be to let the students do a little bit of real life work, not just the grunt work (which obviously some one has to do) but just a little of the real work really motivates the student.
