Red-Headed stepchild of SunGard Data Systems

    Consulting Director (Former Employee)

ProsThe people doing the actual client service work were passionate about their work and were successful. The compensation was on par with market.

ConsThe back office administration of the company was the tail the wagged the dog. The sales team will stab you in the back in a heartbeat if your work threatens their commission... Even if it is the best interest of the client.

Also, the offices are "no-frills". If you visit a SunGard Data Systems office, there is a receptionist for one. There are fresh Starbucks coffee machines, soft drinks and bright open workspaces. SunGard Availability Services offices are the opposite of that. Think Office Space without all the glitz and glamour. Cost cutting has taken away anything resembling good coffee and you are lucky to find a Keurig machine... even luckier to find one with pods. The only thing consistently available in these offices is pain reliever (no joke). Choose your favorite NSAID to try to make the pain of dealing with a company that stopped evolving in the 80's go away.

Advice to Senior ManagementNot many people have dust on their resume's. Turnover, especially problematic above Sr. Manager is crippling to productivity and client relationships. Work harder to retain top talent!

    Micromanagement

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Wayne, PA

ProsSome really nice people work there.

ConsGeneral frustration overall in several departments.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't micromanage. It's anti-productive and discouraging for any employee. Empower them to be the adults that they are and let them feel like they know what they are doing.

Great place to learn but gets repetitive.

    Networking (Current Employee)

ProsGreat place to learn and get your foot in the door. Many different types of customers from simple all the up to insane. Good Benefits.

ConsPride themselves on low salary, corporate re-orgs every year, only really work on the products offered (not a lot of custom work). No bonuses. Potentially lots and lots of nights and weekends.

Advice to Senior Managementreward people that go the extra mile, especially if the extra mile has become standard.

Good work culture but compensation leaves a bit to be desired

Strategic Account Executive (Current Employee) Wayne, PA

ProsWork culture promotes a healthy work/life balance. The sales organization is fairly well run with not much micro management

ConsThe total compensation for sales people is not on par with similar IT Services companies

Advice to Senior ManagementOffer an increased salary commesurate with experience and/or tenure, increase on target earnings by 20% - 25%, and adjust the commission plan to REALLY incentify the focus on incremental revenue

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
