    Just okay!

I worked at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center

    Pros

Significant improvements made to ensure patient safety and quality were number one.

    Cons

Current CEO is often times indecisive and does not take the time to appreciate other opinions/suggestions. CFO is allowed to be condescending to staff and other leaders without being coached. Leadership team went from highly engaged from 2010-2012, to just trying to survive under new CEO

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a CEO with more experience and that is genuine. Remember your patients are diverse, so your leadership team should reflect that.

Great hospital and a lot of staff that care. CEO could be better.

I worked at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Most senior and middle leadership were very responsible and accountable. Benefits were very good and communication was excellent. Excellent ethics across the board. Most staff were very vested in the organization, and worked to make sure changes to meet new healthcare challenges were successful.

    Cons

CEO doesn't hold employees accountable or respond quickly to issues and tends to play favorites. RN leadership was poor but new CNO was working on it. Sales could use more support.

I have been working at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Staff is friendly. Nurses support each other. Most specialists are approachable and accessible. Management is very approachable as well, though the policies make corrective actions difficult to see. Feedback is welcome from staff, and is acted upon, though it is not easy for the staff to see that.

    Cons

The hospital strives to provide top notch care, but the staff resources are kept to a minimum. Even the administration lacks secretarial support, so trying to speak to admin and get a report run can take months or never happen. Everyone, from the CEO down to the housekeepers, seem to be stretched way too thin.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to focus more on program improvements than on squeezing every last penny out of each position. People want to do a good job, but they can't without support.

    Cons

Nasty staff, not a great corporation to work for.

    Pros

Access to the best hospital care, technology, physicians and nurses in the Southwest
    Great opportunities for career advancement
Opportunities for career enrichment with tuition waiver support and other employee incentives
    Competitive salaries and benefits

    Cons

Is a large facility and can be a fast paced environment where you are expected to work collaboratively with other departments well. Must be a good fit for your personal work ethic and personality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center

    Pros

Wonderful staff, knowedgeable, caring, supportive to each other.

    Cons

Most leadership didn't even know how to do the things they felt we should do. Some couldn't even start an i.v.. Very critical. No pats on the back for a job well done, but very quick to write up staff for least infarction. Condescending. This is most of leadership not all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be present more often. Positive feedback instead of all negative, and not just for the RN's, but for the CNA's , and LPN's too. Hire leadership that can help out on the floors in case of emergency. Check before you write up staff to see what the circumstances were. The staff knows you have a lot of pressure on you from higher up, but don't take it out on us. Talk to us like we're human and we can help you accomplish what you need done.

    Pros

Management is trying to satisfy staffs demands on Communications. Have great Nursing and Laboratory staffs. Good trauma center. I was very satisfied with how they treated me during my emergency visit.

    Cons

Too much cost cutting, employee benefits suffer. Need to improve cafeteria food. Long ER waiting time, even with increased emergency room beds.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some Public Relations. Find local support and out of towners.
