Former Employee - Health Care Coordinator in Bethesda, MD

I worked at Sunrise Senior Living full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Facilities are modern and well maintained. Grounds are beautifully landscaped and manicured. In house training is high quality and required by all.

    Cons

Pay is below market. Quality of staff care is sub-standard because management is concerned about profits and staff quality is poor (because of low pay) and the shifts are understaffed. Redundant and time consuming paperwork, audits, training... which inhibits the ability of the HCC to be on the floor and ensure quality of care. Poor food service, activities, in Assisted Living. Unwillingness to bring in contract nurses in times of need so nurses work sick or HCC's fill in or shifts are short.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go through your multi-tiered management structure and get rid of the "good ole boys." The staff is your most important resource and the number one priority is the resident... NOT YOUR BONUS.
