I have been working at Sunshine State Health Plan

    Pros

I'm able to work from home.

    Cons

The caseload is crazy it can be anywhere from 60-100 if you are out in the community or have nursing home.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut back on caseload, your employees would work harder to have better customer satisfaction.

I have been working at Sunshine State Health Plan full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Work from home, good benefits, pay is satisfactory

    Cons

Functions of LTC department are being dictated by a totally different department which is clueless about Case Management. They don't listen to Case Managers they just do what they want. Morale is very low and people are stressed and exhausted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get enough staff to do the job of caring for the members. Let LTC department make their own decisions and policies instead of remote clueless leadership. Consider rewarding people for doing a good job. Listen to Case Managers who are on the front lines instead of making things up out of thin air.

I have been working at Sunshine State Health Plan

    Pros

Easy to get a job. Good benefits. Pay is average. Employs highly educated, highly skilled individuals.

    Cons

Hires mostly friends and relatives even when other internal staff may be more qualified. VERY FEW promotional opportunities. They do not support professional growth, self-development, or promotion above the supervisory level in the LTC department. VERY FEW minorities in upper level leadership positions: definitely a glass ceiling!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs training in facilitating personal and professional growth in those who desire promotion. A leadership mentoring program would be helpful. They also need to develop more promotional opportunities in Jacksonville if they want to retain hard working, dedicated, professional staff. Need to promote based on skill sets and competence instead of friendship and family ties.

I have been working at Sunshine State Health Plan full-time

    Pros

The vision of helping marginalized people (our members) is a noble one. My coworkers are mostly very caring people who want to make a difference in people's lives.

    Cons

Communication across the board is very poor. The growing pains are marginalizing its employees - punitive environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train middle management in human relations. Hire more middle managers and train them well. Focus on improving day to day work culture of employees - morale is very low, which easily bleeds into poor customer service.
