I have been working at Sunwing Airlines full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Tons of opportunities for advancement and promotions (given that employees are good and do their job well)
great management and very friendly atmosphere.
good startup pay and depending on the department you are able to gain extra income (example sales center)
always room to grow and learn as long as the employee is willing to learn (unlike all the complainers I have seen on this website)
good travel benefits (not great but good)

    Cons

could improve morale by paying more.
    could offer better flight benefits

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

pay more attention to employees and what they got to offer, get rid of the staff (management included) who play favorites and increase pay for employees. increase travel benefits

I have been working at Sunwing Airlines full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I have worked for other charter airlines in Canada and in my opinion, this one of the best charter airlines in The county to work for. Company is very robust financially and therefore stable employer (unlike at three I worked for that went bust). Varied destinations, highly professional colleagues to work with, great aircraft (B7378), opportunities for scads of overtime, opportunities to work overseas each summer. Work on your day off and get double time!

    Cons

Schedules change often especially in the event of major weather events. Hard to arrange family life under such circumstances.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management tends not to follow several important articles of our contact which I feel is holding back this company from from going from a good airline to a fantastic airline

    Pros

    Lots of overtime
Lots of possibilities to do more

    Cons

Management not very good, people leave the company all the time
The new flight attendant only work seasonal

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be cheap with your office workers. Make your flight attendant happy and that makes passengers happy

I have been working at Sunwing Airlines full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There are no pros with this company

    Cons

Terrible safety record, staff are not well trained, pay is the lowest in industry, flight "benefits" are a joke, you can't even use them, no interline with anyone except Porter, schedule sucks, seniors flight attendants are nasty to new hires, and most new hires are teenagers which is their first job they dont take seriously.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Fire them all

I have been working at Sunwing Airlines full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The company is very successful and co-workers are generally very friendly/sociable. The work environment is clean, comfortable, and well taken care of. Benefits are awarded after 6 months and include medical/dental and travel privilages.

    Cons

Although the company does well, salaries are lower than the industry standard. Certain departments seem to have almost carte-blanche to hire managers who in reality don't manage anyone but still receive the higher salary levels. There is a lot of "targeted hiring" where postings are put out with criteria so specific it's obvious that they have the candidate already chosen. The travel benefits are good so long as you can deal with only knowing last minute if you will be flying (14 days max notice).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward and foster internal growth rather than allowing good employees to leave due to the lack of appropriate compensation.

I worked at Sunwing Airlines full-time

    Pros

Your colleagues are wonderful to work with and are extremely friendly. Management is (mostly) understanding when time is needed for personal matters (doctor's appointments, etc)

    Cons

    - Lack of innovation,
    - lack of direction,
    - no room for growth,
    - little attention paid to employee ideas.
    - No matter the department, everyone is just buying time until something better comes along
    - Archaic way of doing things
    - Poor compensation, no performance reviews, benefits are basic

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Sunwing Airlines full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You get 2 free flights every year but you can only fly in hurricane season or you go and wait standby and pray. Yes, you get it, customers come before employees

    Cons

    Old school management
Outdated workplace. They dont even have water cooler. Drink tap water!
Managers are stuck in the past
    No communication between departments
You dont have any voice. Just sit, shut up and do what you are told. DO NOT question!
    You never get raise
    Low pay
Dress code, you can only wear jeans on Fridays but then they will cut $2 from every paycheque
Time to time they hire smart people but because no one listens to these poor people, they dont last long.
You raise your voice and you get marked as negative person in the department because you dont say what they want to hear and soon you will get fired.
Everything is secret at this place and next thing you know someone got fired and someone new is sitting next to you
You dont have any value in this company other than making money for them
They work you like dogs and dont appreciate you! You recognized only when you mess something up but not for all the good things you have done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Start listening to your employees
Employees are not robots and you dont own them, respect to their skills
    Stop hiring old school people
Be open to modern ideas and standards
Stop firing and hiring. Value your employees

I worked at Sunwing Airlines full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

You can get along with people "at the bottom of the food chain" since you're all going through the same challenges. We can relate to passenger experience because passengers dislike Sunwing as we dislike the corporate management of the airline.

    Cons

President and HR constantly remind you of how much they value their employees, and how they recognize the hard work, and then they abolish your position without offering you something else within the company. We were constantly embarrassed publicly when things didn't work in someone's favor, and we were verbally abused. Certain execs would remind you why you are still there and that you owe them everything.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Grow up and change careers!

I worked at Sunwing Airlines full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There are many good people who know what they doing. There is a friendly atmosphere among staff members. Approachable CEO. Dress down days on Fridays

    Cons

Cheap! and I don't mean frugal. I understand that is the main focus of business but you are dealing with peoples lives. Work overload is considered normal and new ideas are not welcome unless there is money to be made. Some (not all) senior management are stuck in the past

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you pay as much attention to the staff as you do to money, this would be a great place to work.

I have been working at Sunwing Airlines full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Dress down Fridays
Travel on stand by very cheap

    Cons

Very unorganized, breaks are not what labour board says you can have
They don't value you, always let you know your replaceable
Very high turn around, pay is very little, get commission but they try hard to not give you what
You earned. For a big company, not very organized and save money
By cutting corners on cutting cost on our earnings. Very High school, only
Their fav's get treated well. Others get ignored. No coaching. People usually last 6months -year
Before get tired of treatment and find another job. Never heard anyone LOVE it there!

Company only good thing is travel discounts, but working here
You can't really afford to travel.

No opportunity for growth, except for fav's

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employee's more, make them feel valued
Try focus on stopping turn around then wanted to wash everyone
Out and hiring 3 classes a year- will save you more $$
