I worked at Supermedia full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Decent pay for entry level position. Had all the standard perks one would expect from a large corporation: Vacation time, Bonus Pay, Daily, Weekly, Monthly and even yearly awards and spiffs.

    Cons

Sold worthless products, like pay for call, which never generated any calls for many clients, or PPC, which ate through clients budget in no time, and produced far less than desirable sells, though some clients did benefit. Nearly everyone from my training class lost their job, or quit, most within the first 3 months, and the rest within 6 months with only a few making it a year, or longer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a real education in corporate management, and don't speed through Supermedia's training.

    Pros

Ok Pay, Ok benefits, great local management who feels like we do

    Cons

Commissions have declined so much in the past few years, Products are shoved down our throats. For example, have you sold a smart start product today? Always a race to see who sold the most and pressure to sell specific products so many are doing it unethically. Many clients are not seeing benefits from products. Cancels are very high.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay the DAM sales people!! (can't say real word) They are working their butts off for you and you're in the ivory towers without a clue!!!!

    Pros

Flexible Schedule, not much overtime, decent benefits. Has a gym and a good cafeteria. Most of the none management employees are very friendly. Has covered parking.

    Cons

Company is in decline Nepotism runs wild, promotions and raises based on merit rare. The company has been merging recently with with DexOne that means a lot of people are let go and they may merge again soon. The company has been in decline now since they were spun off from Verizon.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers are usually good friends with those above them many bad decisions are made and backed up because of this.

I have been working at Supermedia full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The actual job, training and account support. Merger with Dex has been smoother than anticipated. Tech support is available to aid customer support.

    Cons

Mid level management does not allow Account Managers to do their jobs without being berated and even cursed at in front of other employees including office staff. Many F words dropped in front of everyone. The women of the staff have tried to complain but our complaints went nowhere. Customer support does not follow up with customer issues all the time or in a timely manner. Emphasis is placed on selling product first, not taking the time to find product package the a customer will be happy with and more likely renue or add onto.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper Management needs to listen to complaints and enforce the rules on handling the employees that are included in the Employee Manual.
