    Pros

Some nice, talented people work there who are desperately trying to do what's right. HR and support staff really try.

    Cons

The company is run like a revolving door. It has been re-organized, and reshuffled on average every 3 years. It will soon lose its 'small business status' and has nothing to offer its federal clients that they can’t get elsewhere. This has resulted in a hand wringing siege mentality. People who are smart and have an opinion learn quickly to keep that opinion to themselves, and nod their head. The company truly cares for their employees as long as you are making them money. Since there's no desire to invest time, effort, and especially money it's easy to become a casualty. Executive management (C-level) and Operations (VP-level) do not get along - placing the employee in the middle of a no-win ego battle.

If you go there, remember there are 3 rules:

    1- You are disposable

2- Management is always right (although which management branch you follow will give you different answers)

3- If you disagree or can’t understand rule #2 - See rule #1

And ask what happened to the individual who had the job previous to you (and previous to her, and so-on ... before you take the job - any job)

Sell while your contracts have some value

    Pros

In my experience the owners and upper management try very hard to communicate well with their employees. It is not unusual for the owners to call in to conference calls and explain things directly to bottom rung employees.

Benefits have improved in the last couple years. A few years ago the company switched from an employer-paid health plan which to a PPO that is more well-known and easy to find doctors in-network, pays very well on prescription drugs, and includes medical and dental. 401K and other benefits, bonuses, have improved in the last couple years too. It is nice to work for a company that is improving benefits instead of taking them away as many companies are being forced to do.

As a small, minority-owned business, they can bid on many contracts that are closed to bigger companies. They also often partner with larger companies on big contracts.

    Cons

As a small company they may sometimes be limited on career advancement opportunities, but they try their best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep demonstrating that you care about the careers of your employees.

    Productive proposal team that targets winnable opportunities;
    Accurate and hard-working finance/accounting department

    Pros

Good Benefits and a HR staff that ensures all your HR Requirements are met. Senior Management recognizes stellar performers and is willing to work with staff to help them progress they're career if the employee shows the interest. Company continues to grow and shares back to the employees yearly with share for success program. Training is encouraged and usually you are reimbursed for all acquired certification exam costs.

SuprTek is not a big company and that is good since that give the employee the feeling that they are part of the team. Family does come first and foremost and that was told to me numerous times from management. This is a company that I hope I work for again one day if the opportunity presents itself.

    Cons

Suprtek needs to expand its Business Development and Proposal teams to go after more lines of Business in its locations outside of the beltway so if a contract ends there are other opportunities so employees have a better chance to stay with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

SuprTEK is a company with a great reputation...Build on that by looking for more teaming partners. Continue looking after your greatest asset your people and make sure they are recognized for the great things that they continue to do to make SuprTEK the super company it is today.
