It has better pay than most, but in the end is still retail.

    Sales Associate (Current Employee)
    Baton Rouge, LA

Prosbetter pay than most retail establishments, free coffee, good discount, definitely large quantity of speciality items, interesting place to work and learn to cook, great coworkers for the most part.

Consincompetent management, ridiculous sales goals, virtually no room for advancement if you arent a favorite of management, experience in retail/sales is not taken into account, management tends to talk down to employees, the idea of sales incentives are ridiculous on high prices items above $1000.

Advice to Senior Managementstop micro-managing your employees, defintiely take experience into account when dealing with employees, hire more competent management and promote those who are doing well within your company, and dont play favorites.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Baton Rouge, LA

    Pros40% discount, meeting fellow workers

ConsMicro manage, pay rate is poor, being discriminate from upper management, co- manager screaming her head off, floor leads( I don't know) attitude needs to be replaced. Store is filthy beyond measure.

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior management needs to visit problems stores and correct what is wrong!

Great if You are in to S&M

    Sales Associate (Former Employee)
    Baton Rouge, LA

    ProsGenerous discount
    Mostly great customers
Great place to share culinary knowledge and ideas

ConsDon't ask for time off-you won't get it.
    Management is rude and abusive.
    favoritism is rampant.
new hires make more than 2yr.+ employees.
managers have 3-4 day weekends and ALWAYS have a family crisis that they must take time off to attend to.
ASST mgr. has his Iphone permanently implanted and his social life is top priority-don't ask him for help on the sales floor, he is too busy on his phone and will tell you so. Mgr. says everyone must stop complaining about him (asst. mgr.) after he asks how you feel about him. Associating with former manager will get you fired.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you kept in touch with "the little people" you might learn a lot. After all, thet are the ones who actually sell those 3k coffee makers and tell a customer how to make creme brulee so they will buy the torches. You need these people and should not ask them to clean toilets while making coffee for customers.
