I worked at Susquehanna Health full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Provides a lot of jobs for the area; many positions available, both part time and full time; competitive salaries, vacation begins accruing immediately.

    Cons

Expensive benefits, difficult to get hired, a lot of office "politics," no sick leave or personal days (forced to use vacation + get an "occurrence" that goes on record - even if you go into labor!), constantly changing policy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management needs to be fair and treat everyone as equals. They also need to become more consistent throughout the entire hospital. They should also focus more on fixing what is there and not focus so much on expanding.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Susquehanna Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I loved taking care if the patients from the community with up to date technology.

    Cons

Management has no idea what is going on with the workers that are actually caring for the patients. Put policies in front of care too often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come out of your meetings and see what is going on around you.

I have been working at Susquehanna Health full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Competitive pay (sometimes)
    Shift differential

    Cons

Terrible nurse to patient ratios with no mind paid to acuity.
Management who plays favorites and often addresses you with sarcasm.
    Hostile Work Environment.
    Loan Repayment/Tuition Assistance (That Existed?).
Mandation (frequently and with no regard to school schedules/children/tiredness of the nurse).
Scheduling yourself and then having the schedule come out and nothing you requested is there.
Frequent broken equipment or equipment that is un-locatable.
Once you work on Medical-Surgical under the current manager, forget about ever trying to transfer to another department within the hospital--she will keep you and give you bad reviews when you try to transfer out.

Do yourself a favor and just avoid this hospital. Evangelical and GMC are less than a hour away and with much better working standards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend less money paying your four CEOs and agency nurses and more on employing new nurses so the burden isn't so great on the current ones. The frequent mandation with little regards to my life outside of the facility is leading me to search for a new job (and I can tell you I am not the only one).

I have been working at Susquehanna Health full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

salary. But the cost of the horrible health insurance makes it much lower

    Cons

    awful health insurance
    no pension plan
so many levels of management you have no idea who to talk to with a problem, but even if you do figure it out, you are ignored.
No breaks, meals, rest, just run your entire shift.
I have never seen such awful patient care in my life.
    vacation time does not exist.
If you are an experiences nurse, run from this hospital. It is so horribly managed you will just shake your head until it falls off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit, and let people who know what they are doing take over.

I have been working at Susquehanna Health

    Pros

You get to meet a lot of great co-workers.

    Cons

Employees are often sent to various campuses throughout the day, each day. Parking is horrible. The location of the Williamsport hospital is not safe anymore.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try not to have favorites. And try to think of the patients first.
