    I worked at Sutter Health

    Pros

Pleasant working environment, never a dull moment, nice urban location in Oakland, difficult to get fired, high emphasis on patient care.

    Cons

Compensation is below industry norms, although some long time employees are paid more than they are worth. Management is definitely top-down and hierarchical.

    Pros

Health care is provided as a benefit, there are a lot of hard working individuals who want to do their very best for the patients and their families

    Cons

Lack for visions and planning by management with no attention to details makes for an environment where it is impossible to achieve the goals without either failure or a nervous breakdown

    Pros

    Good benefits
Great place to work for you slackers out there
    That's it!

    Cons

    Old fashioned management style
    Poor communication
Punching the time clock is more important than getting the job done
Overwork high performing employees, chasing them away
    Old buildings with environmental issues
Older employees into game playing and politics big time and get away with it
Slacker employees receive more credit than they deserve - no management or consequences for inability to get the job done
Hard working employees are just worked harder and not given any credit

    Advice to Management

    Learn to be better managers
    Improve communication skills
    Very dysfunctional organization
Good place to work for slackers but not for managers

    Pros

Know the right people get far.

    Cons

Unless your a former Nordstrom employee, or you know the right person in management you won't get far. The agents hired in the S3 contact center don't have any experience. They call themselves HR but they staff people who don't even have degrees, much less experience in HR. When they mistakenly hire people capable of doing the job, they harass them. Movement is based on favorites not merit. They claim to care about customer service but really it's about getting the bottom of the barrel Nordstrom employees.

    Advice to Management

Clean house and stop allowing inadequate managers to staff their friends. Nordstroms is retail not healthcare!
