I have been working at Sutter Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, advancement opportunities, friendly co-workers. Most of upper management is great to work with and very approachable. PTO, some overtime available and paid holidays. On the job training.

    Cons

It depends on what department you are on/who's team you are on. Some managers are not easy to work with while others are excellent to work with. But you pretty much get that anywhere you work.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work on motivating your employees! Make sure there is no hypocrisy/favoritism. Again, it's not like that with every employee but it does happen.

    Pros

Great company with excellent pay and benefits. Dynamic challenging environment. There are opportunities for growth with their continuing education benefits and they encourage promotion from within.

    Cons

Sutter Health is a large company with many regions, locations, and departments. Each of these have their own culture and environment so some areas have outstanding work environments others do not.

    Advice to Management

The management I experienced was mostly fantastic. They encouraged and modeled excellence, but I would say at times they could be too lenient with poor performers which can cause resentment and frustration from peers. Picking up the slack for others while you are already working twice as hard as them is discouraging.

I have been working at Sutter Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Sutter treats its employees exceptionally well. I am a 15+ year veteran healthcare worker and I have worked for most of the "biggies" in California (Dignity, Kaiser, etc.) and I have to say that Sutter is the best place I have ever worked. Excellent compensation and salary packages and a very positive work environment where employees are encouraged to have a good life-work balance.

    Cons

It is sometimes very difficult to get hired at Sutter.

I worked at Sutter Health (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A good healthcare plan, it can be free depending on what you would like in your healthcare plan. I had no problems with my health insurance. They contribute to your retirement plan after you have been there for a while. There are chances for advancement to a certain degree.

    Cons

The work schedules shifted so much I thought I was working in fast food. I couldn't plan for day care because they wanted to change my schedule week to week without much notice. I was originally hired with a set schedule but after new employees came in and wanted my work schedule they started trying to change mine. They should hire people for a schedule and expect them to stick to it as people agree to work schedules because it works with their life outside of work (commute, daycare, family plans etc.). The work loads increased more and more as they laid off employees.

    Advice to Management

Create set schedules so that people can plan accordingly outside of work (i.e. childcare, family time) Pay attention to work loads to ensure patient safety

I have been working at Sutter Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Sutter Medical Foundation is a great company that prides itself in putting quality patient care first. The benifits are great.

    Cons

Although the pay is good, I think it could be more competitive with other Health Care companies in the market. Employees are expected to work outside of their scope of practice and take on more responsibility without more pay.
