    Pros

Great benefits. There is some room for advancement. Seems to be better now with the new COO

    Cons

If you work an administrative job, you are REQUIRED to take off holidays, BUT you have to use your own PTO to fulfill your 80 hours. It doesn't matter if you don't want to use your PTO or if you want to work, say Labor Day. It's not an option.

After nine years and helping to build a new department (working 45-50 hours a week for 40 hours pay), I was laid off.

I worked at Sutter Health full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent health insurance. Unionized employees at least get paid for hours worked.

    Cons

My direct manager/supervisor changed six times in nine years. (I kid you not.) Terrible morale. People holing on because they needed the job. The facility CEO (my second... or was it third?) got perspiration across his upper lip every time he had to lead a quarterly meeting with general employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have good-hearted, smart, skilled, caring health professionals -- give them good-hearted, smart, skilled, caring guidance.

I have been working at Sutter Health part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Negotiated pay and matched my salary from previous hospital in the Solano area.

    Cons

Corporate runs the company like a fine tuned machine. You kind of feel like a gear in the machine, and nothing more. Just a replaceable part.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask how the job is going, resolve issues between co-workers instead of letting petty issues become bigger issues that people get fired over. Calm your site leads down or promote them to supervisors.

    Pros

Great benefits. Nice people to work with. Good team environment.

    Cons

When looking for other positions internally (promotions, position change), existing employees are not given preferential treatment. Must compete with everyone that applies externally.

I have been working at Sutter Health full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Ability to move up and "career search" throughout company. There are more opportunities with this company to move around and get a feel for what you want to do long term.

    Cons

This company is lacking in technological advancement, and workplace diversity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Diversity training and awareness, leadership training opportunities should be implemented.

I worked at Sutter Health full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Hours range from 7 to 3:30 to 10 to 6:30 M-F. Staff work in teams that are encouraged to solve problems together. Upper Management recognizes milestones and have held breakfasts, BBQ's, ice cream socials. Great Benefits.

    Cons

Some team management lead from their chair. Often staff is left to ask a fellow co-worker to solve the problem. Unless you are a favorite, it is not likely you will be chosen for a special project.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer special projects to all staff, this will allow all staff the chance to learn and participate in something new. Having favorites only creates problems.

I have been working at Sutter Health

    Pros

Great benefits and if you are with the right group can be a rewarding experience. Work is challenging , but not overwhelming.

    Cons

Some departments within the organization can a political game and if your not careful and CYA you could find yourself on the outside looking in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would advise senior management to take a long look into their mid managements practices and how they treat their subordinates.
