Pros
They have a great benefit package
Cons
Career advancement takes a long time.
Pros
I love the people that I work with...people that I both like AND respect. Great benefits, growth opportunities, education support. Overall fantastic place to work.
Cons
Nothing major, but fostering more inter-departmental knowledge sharing would be helpful.
Pros
Challenging work and great tools to work with. Never boaring
Cons
unrealistic approach to project management, disconnect between upper management and employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Cut the Red tape and listen to the ones that do the work.
Pros
Sutter Health has outstanding value system, compare to many other companies. It is a value driven organization, they do things because it is "a right thing do to". In 2008 they have donated almost $600 mln in services, materials and money to the most needy of our region. They are cutting edge, and pioneers in many areas of health care industry. It is California's #1 health care provider. Work environment is result oriented without sacrificing their values, so if your are exempt employee you can prioritize your time and tasks, which is great and gives flexibility to take care of the family.
Cons
It is very well established company, not much growth. Employees love this company so much that they almost never leave it, sometimes working for decades. This is good on one hand, but it makes it hard to get any promotions. So most people work in the same position for a very long time. If you like rapid advancements in your carrier in this company it could be very hard to achieve unless of course you are a superb employee.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue innovations, exploring new uncharted territories in Health Care, since it is Sutter Health's essence, and bring new ideas forward! I think, Sutter's senior management is good. They get bogged down sometimes with micromanagement and miss the big picture, but overall they have great ideas and on track to implement them.
Pros
Multiple opportunities for individual growth
Excellent training programs for new staff
Very competent and caring staff members
Cons
Older, outdated facility
No electronic patient records
Below average communication skills from unit management
Tendency to react
Advice to Senior Management
Work to process all information before making decisions
Pros
Health benefits are good and few mgrs are honest and good.
Cons
Some mgrs are slave drivers. Work aholoic and expect the same from all team members.
Advice to Senior Management
Be considerate about team members and expect them to perform for 8 hrs a day not more.
Pros
I have worked for Sutter since 2001 and am very happy here. It has a very strong feeling of family and loyalty among employees. I think that overall the company acts with integrity and a patients best interest in mind. The senior managment team are very respectful of their employees and try to effectively reward us. We have a decent amount of freedom when it comes to time off and breaks during the day. I feel that I get paid very well for the work that I do and I have transfered to several different work groups during my time with Sutter. They have a lot of opportiunity for growth and their tuition reimbursement plan in excellent. My location is very convienient to freeways and schools. I am very happy here.
Cons
Some of the policies are a bit excessive, and we only get 3 weeks off a year between sick and holiday time and it goes quickly.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward with Cash Bonuses instead of T-Shirts, employees will appreciate that more.
Pros
Good benefits and retirement. They got rid of the traditional pension they use to offer. Salaries are failry competitive with other local clinics (excluding Kaiser). You get a $20 Safeway gift card at Christmas (this might belong in the downside column).
Cons
Management is allowed to bully employees and human resources is of little help. People in management positions are often focused on moving up the ladder, rather than on being good to their employees. The human resources department works for management, rather than as a mediator. Sutter is very top heavy with management. When they make cuts, for financial reasons, they make the cuts from the frontline/working staff.
Advice to Senior Management
An in depth review of the director's ability to run the division. In depth review of management's (abusive) treatment of their employees.
