    Pros

Young management that can change with the climate of the industry. Move to the brands was a great idea. Work hard, be creative, be positive and you will be promoted to higher positions. Dress for the job you would like to have. You will be noticed.

    Cons

Employee apathy that has lingered through the years with employees with years at Sweda. Need new energy in the building that can drown out the negativity from the few loud individuals that make it miserable for everyone else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Acknowledge successes and reward it.

    Pros

Employees are nice people and good to work with. Most genuinely want to do a good job.

    Cons

Employees are not empowered to do their jobs. Promotions are arbitrary and not based on performance, mainly on nepotism and when people management feels are "key people", threaten to leave. Many are unhappy but too afraid to voice opinions because management has created this atmosphere. Employees are pitted against each other by management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop belittling the employees by referring to them by less-than-favorable terms ("kids"), and using the intercom system instead of shouting names when you need to speak to specific individuals. Clean up the books so that everything can be tracked easily and you can see straight-off who is actually working hard and who isn't - begin a job-tracking system so employees can track how much time they are spending on one job.

    Pros

Given autonomous decision-making authority, flexible in implementing new sales offerings. Fussy customer base but low barriers to entry to gain new distributors.

    Cons

Difficult to make top salary in this industry. Promotional Products Industry is sales driven and ultra competitive. Margins are thin, thus everyone's compensation is adversely affected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Profit-sharing possibility in the future? Labor-intensive industry drives down earnings and profit. Online marketplace will continue to change industry dramatically

Former Employee - Inside Sales Representative in Monrovia, CA

    Pros

Laid back company, no dress code, most people are easygoing

    Cons

Biased management, archaic computer systems (who seriously uses paper to keep track of contacts) lack of growth opportunities, job descriptions not clearly laid out, unrealistic expectations, lack of open communication with upper management. Diminished image in promotional products industry. Lack of timeliness in dealing with clients and much more

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This could be a world class company if the right people were promoted. There is a lot of dead weight, and you know who you are.

    - Not much opportunity provided to middle management to be independent and foster growth and development of employees.
    - Majority of the employees are treated as easily expendable.
