Pros
40 hours a week and only required to close one night a week. Advancement can be as quick as you want it to be.
Cons
It is retail, holidays and weekends are a requirement. Experienced workers are not found in every department. As with any chain problem associates are not held acountiable for their actions constantitly.
Advice to Senior Management
Wait to hire the best person not just whoever applies.
Pros
Pay a little higher than minimum wage. It's around the same as competitors which is good. Also, the hiring process is easy.
Cons
You are expected to stand up for 8 hours a day. You have to ask to use the bathroom and sometimes can't because of poor management.
Advice to Senior Management
Let your employees use the restroom when they need to. Also, let employees sit down and rest one every few hours.
Pros
Not many people shop at Sweetbay, most prefer the more mainstream stores, such as Publix or Wal Mart, so you don't have to do a lot of work. There isn't much structure within management, so you have a bit of freedom to do whatever you want within the store.
Cons
You don't receive praise at all, the hours are horrible (as full time, you only get 15-20 hours), you make minimum wage with almost no chance of a raise or promotion within, definitely isn't worth your time.
Advice to Senior Management
Store managers (specifically store #1844) do not know how to run the stores. There is no motivation to work hard, the store manager doesn't understand how to praise anyone besides himself, and the lack of advertising is a large factor in your small spectrum of customers.
Pros
decent money being a manager
Cons
everything.
work every holiday, weekend, ect.
phone blowing up on days off.
hr is biased towards seniority and powerful DMs
they honestly care NOTHING about you
ps, youll worry that the company is being sold everyday
Advice to Senior Management
stop being so selfish and greedy. its not rocket science. its not an emergency job. no ones life is on the line. you sell groceries. thats it.
Pros
Good co-workers, Happy environment, relaxed supermarket.
Cons
Management is a little lazy, pay is poor, they will give you the least amount possible no matter what.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay better.
Pros
Benefits, store associates, senior leadership
Cons
Store managers not being able to run their stores and some stores not being given DM support as needed.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to what the store managers have to say. They are in the stores and know what is really going on.
Pros
respect from management, recognition for a job well done and great customer base... great hours, clean, safe workplace.... feels like a big family....
Cons
better wages for job class, more communication between coworkers, overtime if wanted.... give the hours to the ones who want to work....
Pros
Everyone is very nice. Good work environment. They always tell me that I'm always doing a good job and when I'm doing something wrong they always help me how to fix it.
Cons
I would like to get more hours, and like to work different departments.
Pros
I love working with people. I feel we serve the public with a nice atmosphere to grocery shop in. Our stores are well stocked and clean. Employees are friendly and very knowledgeable.
Cons
Have to work very hard. I feel the upper management have no clue to how hard I have to work to get my job done. I have been with this company from Food Lion to Kash and Karry to Sweetbay. Almost 20 years. Need better communication between upper management and employees. They always want more but never get "Job well done". Only what's wrong. I love what I do but would love to hear some good feedback. Without all our hard work down here there would be no Sweetbay!!!
Advice to Senior Management
Would love more positive feedback from them. Listen to what we have to say. Sitting behind your desks things may look good . But ask us how they really work out. We are the ones that make your ideas work or not. Send us out a survey on how we feel your new ideas etc are working. We need to have some input. Stop in unannounced to see how the store really looks. Ask us how we really feel about things. I love my job here and need to feel that I am important.
Pros
i like to work with the public and meet new people all the time you never know who your gonna meet
Cons
well i want to advance in the company and learn alot more about different departments and be a help to others and really could get more respect for what i do do for the co pluss the rate of pay is really low and i have worked in this field for 7years to be makeing 7.60 an hr
Advice to Senior Management
