I have been working at Swift Transportation full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Swift has lots of freight and several terminals across the United States. I enjoy having the Qualcomm and digital logs. Relatively new equipment.

    Cons

Nobody knows what anybody is doing!! Even from the time a recruiter contacted me I have always felt that they don't REALLY know what they're saying, or the rules regarding certain qualifications, training, hours, etc.

    Pros

Plenty of overtime, depending at what shop you work for. It's Olay for someone who does not have too much experience. Good place to get your feet wet.

    Cons

    1.Don't care about safety
    2. Service trucks are broken down
    3. Roadcalls 24/7 no matter how many hours you have worked on your shift
    4. Shop management does not care about you.
5 Bad shop morale , bad company culture
    6. Very little raises , if you're lucky you'll get 50 cents a year normally it's between 20 and 30 cents.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time for this company clean house and change there culture.

I have been working at Swift Transportation full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Choose wisely before selecting Swift!! Many more options available!!

    Cons

1st con: Equipment failure on a regular basis! Don't break down, little to NO pay!!

2ND con: Length of time on terminal repairs leaves the driver sitting!! Seem's like there ALL out to lunch!

3rd con: Avoid the terminals like the plaque! Showers are disqusting!

4th con: Not recommended at all for a "career company"!

5th con: Weekend staff seem to be alway's "out" for the weekend!

6th Con: While Swift is making millions, driver's are making peanuts!! More concerned about the freight rather than there driver's well being!! But then again, the BIGGER they are, the HARDER there going to fall!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your driver's, and the freight will get there!

    Pros

You have the potential to make a very decent living if you work 7 days per week.

    Cons

You have to reach your numbers or you are written up and terminated and you probably will not be promoted as they choose only friends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The managers we currently have are overly concerned with how they look. They are not available to assist. You can hear them talk negatively about people they do not like. they have all been there for a long time and it wont change. the HR people do not do much when you go to them about the stuff

I have been working at Swift Transportation full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

the best thing about working for Swift Transportation is the people. They care and they love the company and the owner.

    Cons

The only challenge was the CDL school TDA. it is an accelerated class, not a good fit for anyone not proficient driving a manual transmission. Also the student to instructor ratio is between 4-8 to 1. so very little one on one instruction. that being said you can get thru it as most of our class did. You must work hard and make sure you get your time behind the wheel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The school should be in house and run by Swift employees who love they're jobs not TDA employees who openly tell students how unhappy they are with the pay.
