    Hard work for little money

    I worked at Swift Transportation

    Pros

They will give just about anybody a job opportunity

    Cons

Starting out at 25 cents a mile is ridiculous, and it will take a year to get 32 which is outrageous. The trucks are okay, but the trailers are garbage. If your are military looking to start a new career turn away immediately. Crete is a great company with good equipment with very few issues (I am talking about trailers if you ignore this review you will find out what I am talking about). They also support military veterans and have great benefits and pay. Bottom line swift is a garbage company that is based on a tier system and at the bottom is company drivers. You will get the shaft. Do your research and pick anywhere but swift

I have been working at Swift Transportation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

benefits are pretty good and most of the employees are nice and helpful and they try to get you home time when you want it. good started company

    Cons

I have been driving for them for less then a year and am on my 8th truck because they keep breaking down and the truck I have now has been in the shop 4 times for the same thing and it's still not fixed. the pay could be better

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get better trucks and listen to your drivers when they say they are having problems with thier trucks and have the guys in the shop fix it right the first time

Worked as a company driver for 1 year. They did not treat all drivers equal. Some received preference of loads.

I worked at Swift Transportation full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Most of the terminal staff were friendly and helpful. The company has a culture of safety. My driver manager (leader) was always working hard for me. Benefits were decent compared to some other companies.

    Cons

Long periods away from home two weeks minimum for over the road drivers, one week for regional dedicated routes. Shops can be a little slow in getting trucks out of service.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Consider a pay increase.

I have been working at Swift Transportation

    Pros

Excellent health benefits, great work life balance, competitive pay and advancement opportunities. Easy to use communications systems for drivers and office workers. Great team environment and support system within the terminal.

    Cons

Terminals can be short staffed and communication can be slow and lost in translation from time to time. Computer equipment is dated needs to be upgraded.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update the terminal computer equipment and work on in terminal communication. Other than that nothing negative to say.

I worked at Swift Transportation full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good Miles, Lots of Terminals across the US, Newer Trucks, On-Time & Safety Bonus program.
Accommodating to newer drivers. Swift will get you rolling when other trucking company's want you to take a refresher course and owe them $$$.
Seeing the Country while getting paid.
Most of all Swift employees are good people. Just drive and be on time to your destinations and everything will be great! I liked driving fro Swift.

    Cons

Never on-time, for home time. (date requested).
Driver managers like to hassle you if you take more then 3 days off. (I always took more then that).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick to policy, 1 day off for every week driven.

    Extremely Dissatisfied

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    I worked at Swift Transportation

    Pros

New equipment they have pretty good maintenance for the trucks. Twenty word minimum and I'm finished with the pros.and that's my experience

    Cons

Did the owner op thing for a while until I found out they have a class action law suit by owner ops. Basically we were just company drivers just footing the bill for them. Managers are extremely rude and disrespectful. And the weekend dispatchers always sounded like they were too busy playing candy cruse to help you.
