I worked at Swisher International full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They make it sound good, company car, good hours, "easy hours"

    Cons

Sales philosophy, instead of viewing stores and clients as partners and building positive relationships, they view it as an adversarial relationship. They expect you to go in each call ready to battle the store owners and managers. Way too much shady dealing to be considered a professional career

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

View the stores that carry your product as partners, not as a necessary evil, they are your real sales force, get them on your side and you can stay number 1 in the market, keep viewing them as enemies, Swedish match will take your place!

I worked at Swisher International full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Company vehicle, insurance, vacation, 401k, None

    Cons

Work-life balance, lacking flex ability and family values. They do not care about your family. They want you to be married to the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to upper management with any of these companies is remember where you came from. You use to be a territory manager at one time so don't act like your better then us. Help your TM's reach their numbers don't just stand around and demand something you couldn't achieve yourself.

I worked at Swisher International full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Decent benefits. On site nurse and cafeteria. Opportunity to move to a better job after building up seniority. Working people are generally good people.

    Cons

2 unions with different rules/pay. Way to much nepotism. Upper management acts like they can do no wrong and people below them are REPLACED quite frequently. Supervisors are constantly being fired along with regular workers. Upper management finds reasons to replace people. I guess they look at it like a cost saving maneuver.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit selling products that cause cancer. I have nothing else since they already know everything.

    Pros

Pay is good and the benefits as well. A lot of great people to work with

    Cons

Up to 7 days a week for 2-3 months all depending on orders. Micro managing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the people you hire do the job, don't question everything they do. If they can't do the job get someone that can.

    Pros

    Company Car

    Get to travel
    Ok Managers
Place great for People who are single

A great amount of over night travel
    No Respect for family life
    Unprofessional Upper Management
Lower Pay compared to other tobacco companies
    Stuck in their old ways

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Because this is a sales position it would be a better opportunity if you had a better system to track sales individually. A better bonus structure, a territory rep. shouldn’t receive the same bonus as every person in their zone.
