    Pros

Some of the best and brightest engineers. The work atmosphere was very relaxed. Office politics were never an issue. Great health benefits.

    Cons

Not enough emphasis on personal development opportunities. Occasionally some of the product development decisions did not provide the most prosperous path forward.

    Advice to Management

If an opportunity presents itself, take off the gloves and go for it.

    Pros

    - Colleagues are human beings - Flexibility - Usually a laid-back atmosphere - No micro-managing (in most departments)

    Cons

    - Compensation (there were no raises for years after last recession) - Management and technology have been treading water for too long

    Advice to Management

Spend some of the money in the bank and move the co. forward.

    Cons

Management team is not honest to employee. No salary increase for many years. No clear future for the company. Employee morale is low.

    Advice to Management

Need to be honest to employee for all the decisions company made. Listen to and talk with employee on a regular basis.

    Pros

Great people to work with, management had an open door policy when you had issues. If you had problems the team approach to solving them was alive and well at Sycamore

    Cons

Sr level management could not look into the future when it came to new products for the networking industry. They would buy new companies to increase revenues but most if not all never panned out to what Sr. level management thought it would bring in for sales revenues. Thus they paid too much for little return

    Advice to Management

Management needs to make some decisons on the direction the company is going to go in. Too many sr level people do not have the best interest of the lower level workers in mind

    Pros

Sycamore Networks is based on technology development; emphasizes on developing high quality products and solutions in intelligent bandwidth management and wireless broadband optimization fields.

    Cons

Senior Management is not good at team management and is lack of employee incentive. Career development is limited, and there is a apparent ceiling in position.

    Advice to Management

Sycamore Networks shall not only concern the development process of product, but also emphasize on employee career development , performance review and incentive. That is, it shall invest much on R&D for producing high quality product so as to meet customer's needs.
