Pros
Sykes is a great place to work. They treat the employees great and with much respect. Give out free things!
Cons
Sitting all day long! Other than that, nothing else!! I can't complain, I'm getting paid good for a small town!
Advice to Senior Management
Train the employees better! We still learn it while doing it, but half the time was messing around in training.
Pros
Site leadership was exceptional very motivating
Cons
Above site level sucks does not support site
Advice to Senior Management
Offer more support to site leaders
Pros
Sykes supplies training for their employees, though maybe not enough...
They also provide a little to none benefits package, which I suppose is better than nothing.
They will work with you when you have to adjust your schedule to carpool with someone.
Cons
One thing that upset me is their training is not long enough for the account that they threw me out on the floor for, so I didn't know quite what I was doing... also my trainer didn't train well.
They don't teach you how to use the phones or how to transfer.
And people on an account making loans would make the same amount of money as people on an account selling things for people.... which I find utterly ridiculous.
Advice to Senior Management
Adjust wages for different accounts and make the training more lengthy.
Pros
The people are friendly, it's an easy going atmosphere with not much pressure.
Cons
Not enough work, no motivation or inspiration (although this is perhaps due to the situation), pay is bad.
Advice to Senior Management
Motivation and training of staff would have helped with productivity instead of just counting on billing clients for staff time. Perhaps this could have prevented redundancies.
Pros
My supervisor was terrific!! Loved my co-workers. Benefits.
Cons
Paid-time off. Considerations for urgent situations. When the company makes a change the senior management of the site is not very understanding towards the employees that have been working for the company since it first opened. The upper management will not work with you even if you have been a loyal employee with perfect attendance over two years! The upper management speaking of the ones that actually run the site are not compatonate what so ever.
Advice to Senior Management
If you expect a company to survive and to thrive successfully you have to treat your employees the same way that you expect them to treat you and the customers that they serve. Don't forget that the employees are the biggest part of a company and without us you wouldn't have a job!!! Also you are right there is someone else that will be there to take the place of one that no longer has their position but if you fire everyone (because the turnover rate is high) there will be no one else to hire.
Pros
(1) It's an inside job.
(2) Low grade health care (better than nothing.)
(3) 401K with employer match to 4%. (5% or 6% would show better respect for employees.)
Cons
(1) Low raises. Averaging around 9 cents per year. ( The old ICT Group was 30 cents per year for full time employees. Based on total hours worked, every 1050 hours worked was 15 per hour more. Averaging 30 cents more per year.)
(2) Lack of promotions for senior reps. (Promoting children over older adults.)
(3) Nepotism.
(4) Plastic attitude by senior management towards reps. Lack of truthfulness on feedback concerning reasons for non-promotion.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat long term employees who have been working for you better. Their loyality to you should be returned in kind. Then it would be a better company. Place the raise schedule on total hours worked only, not tied to QA and handle time!!
Pros
Worked from home, director was nice, everyone seems very nice.
Cons
Very little to keep my interest.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to become more organized relative to tasks and objectives.
Pros
You receive an OV Kaart that allows travel all over the Netherlands.
You get an opportunity to learn from fellow agents and their cultures. As an expat, you find people who are sharing your experiences and that is a benefit.
Cons
There is no listening. When a need is addressed it is blown over as if it doesn't exist. If someone is going through a personal issue, they do not see this as their concern, you can be replaced in their eyes.
If you have ideas, suggestions or just want to do better, if it does not fit in their plans, it doesn't exist. You feel as though you are walking into a faceless, expressionless, oppressive place.
Advice to Senior Management
They need to respect their agents and the people that work for them. We are not robots, we are people with needs and potential.
Pros
The multicultural environments, there are people from the whole Europe. Account managers who are helpful and respectful (maybe the ones I have are not the same so bad described by other commentors).
Cons
No chance of career development. You can stay here one year in order to get the experience for a new job after. The location is rather far from lively places (20 km from Ennis or from Limerick), so you should arrange an accomodation in the small Shannon town.
Advice to Senior Management
I've no advice to give them. Maybe you can pay something more the employees, so you won't see such flux of coming and leaving people.
Pros
temporary Employment for people who would otherwise be unemployeed
Cons
long term strategy is Win for the company and lose for the employees.
Advice to Senior Management
People understand that you lower your costs by closing locations and starting over someplace else. Stop using capacity issues as a way to reduce the payroll burden. You need to take care of your employees ... all of them... The first way is to replace your marketing department.
