  1. Great job, but is not a job you can live off of.

    Pros

Sylvan allows you to work as few or as many classes as you would like. The hourly rate is pretty good, and they also offer bonuses. The lesson plans are already made out for you, so there is hardly ever any reason to take work home.

    Cons

There are no full-time teaching positions, so you have to work a full-time job along side Sylvan just to make ends meet. Sometimes management is very bad about responding to emails and answering phone calls; it can be very difficult to get a hold of someone.

    Advice to Management

Respond to your employees in a more timely fashion.

  2. Too much work, no pay. (Franchise)

    Pros

Kept very busy, everyday was something different. Students, families and co workers (except management) made working there worth it. Enjoyed the "type" of work.

    Cons

Poor management, extremely low pay, long hours, cheated out of "paid" holidays, overworked employees. Executive Directors do not care about employees/customers, just the bottom line. No appreciation for employees. No life / work balance. Use and abuse everyone.

    Advice to Management

Learn to appreciate employees and treat them better.
