Pros
Very happy with the benefits, working environment and support provided by Symantec. Although a bit difficult to get hired, well worth the effort.
Cons
Training could be a bit better. Supporting a complex product and much of the learning has been done on the job. But overall the customers I am supporting are happy with the results I am providing.
Pros
Excellent products
Excellent pay
Excellent management
Cons
health benefits could be much better
Pros
We protect and serve. We have a global impact and I feel like a cyber crime fighter. You read every day about things that go wrong, but I can say everyday something I did helped make something go right.
Cons
Like most bigger places it is harder to move when you need to. A smaller place maybe able to adapted and grow a bit faster... Till they get to be big too.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep looking for the next ideas, they are there... And all around you. Make it better for all team members to share their ideas.
Pros
Cool program that allows you to send bonuses to anyone in the company. Good attitude toward remote work. Nice gym deals.
Cons
Lot of inter-departmental strife, tons of favoritism in my larger department that has meant my group has not had any promotions/headcount in years, yet other groups that report to my VP get them all the time. The entire company acts resource-strapped--lot of departments cross-charge for their services now, which is a strange way to do business.
Pros
Competitive pay and benefits and a great manager.
Cons
Limitations in promotion and always cost cutting.
Advice to Senior Management
Finance should find creative ways to manage costs than to freeze travel, pay and lay off people.
Pros
Its a large company with a good benefit package and many talented people to work with.
Cons
The larger software projects are huge and poorly managed.
Advice to Senior Management
Try innovating internal processes for developing software. They are old, tired and are chewing up employees to make schedules relentlessly.
Pros
sincerely focused on creating quality products and achieving high customer satisfaction - execution can be questionnable
Cons
compensation and OTE is not realistic
Advice to Senior Management
refocus
Pros
Great people
Great pay
Great benefits
Strong company
Cons
Company is so large, you may fall through the cracks.
Pros
great team to work with, good communication among the team!
Cons
can always get paid more!
Pros
Huge company where you can work and excel to learn about corporate sizes and opportunities. Good benefits, though negative news are never shared
Cons
promotions not always given on performance but rather by knowing someone. Huge company, individual performance does not seem to matter
Advice to Senior Management
do what you are supposed to do, do not try to grow into higher positions, it is given to you, and only then you should perform at that level
