Advice to Senior Management
they talk but wnen it comes to walk, they freeze
Pros
Great benefits, smart people. Opportunities to get in front of customers, partners and executive staff. Great training and courses for professional development.
Cons
Moving targets for promotions and internal advancement. Strong performers passed over for promotions while very weak IC's or ineffective managers reamain in place.
Advice to Senior Management
Please practice what you preach when it comes to retaining employees. Long-time employee continue to leave from frustration in review cycles and lack of advancement opportunities. Our experience is sought-after by competitors in the industry, so you'll continue to see movement there unless this is addressed.
Pros
challenging environment pushes to either develop (both technical and soft skills) or sink. Possibility of covering various technical fields from storage, backup, security, Symantec have a wide portfolio of products covering all of them.
Cons
A lot of challenging work with hard competition. Environment is isolated team spirit is still being developed, efforts are yet to be coordinated. Overall OK place to work, decent work/life balance count on a lot of travelling
Advice to Senior Management
Insist on more quality and shake up various entrenched departments. Enterprise products are the way to grow.
Pros
Great benefits & salary (Among the best in the Bay Area)
Good W/L Balance
Excellent career advancement opportunities
Excellent Brand
Excellent training opportunities
Cons
Lack of direction from management
Too many acquisitions with no clear path of integration
Middle management conflicts between departments - need to work together better.
Advice to Senior Management
GREAT COMPANY - KEEP IT GREAT. I had to leave due to relocation and there were no opportunities in Finance in the Dallas area otherwise I would still be there.
Pros
Good work environment
Good Benefits
Overall good culture
Cons
Lack of growth opportunities
Culture of Fear
Advice to Senior Management
Give better compensation, cut costs in the right areas.. do not waste money unnecessarily....
Pros
Good technology. Friendly staff, who seem to support each other. Good working environment. Compensation is OK. Things could move very fast.
Cons
Company too big, sometimes feel out of touch. Also, due to the nature of the business, it could face a tougher time when things do not go well in the economy.
Advice to Senior Management
Management did well in general. They might need to slow down a little bit in terms of acquiring smaller businesses to avoid stretching too thin on resources.
Pros
Industry leader, high value on integrity, excellent products.
Cons
Lack of management focus on legacy Enterprise products.
Pros
Benefits are good
Pay is competitive
Excellent company to work for, outside of the support organization
Cons
NetBackup support is poorly managed by people looking only to save their own skin, not service the customer.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of all of the management in NetBackup support from the top down and replace them with people who care about both the customer and the morale of their employees.
Pros
Good place to gain experience
Cons
depend on who you know with mix corp. culture
Pros
Good work/life balance
Social atmosphere, good coworkers
Reasonable pay
Cons
Beaurocracy gets in the way of sales
Sales management is under the influence of finance and legal.
Too slow to react to a rapidly changing Technology Marketplace- don't work in one of the emerging technology sectors/ or non-sweet spots. Company is too slow to respond adequately and do what is necessary to break into a new market.
Advice to Senior Management
Do what is right for the customer.
