I worked at Symantec full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is ok if you can tolerate being managed by incompetent people. Benefits do start on day one, which is nice.

    Cons

Managers with no experience run around like chickens with their heads cut off. No coherent plan, no vision, just clueless people focusing on non-issues with no real goal in sight.

Nothing gets done, one training committee in particular met weekly for over a year and produced literally nothing. If you cannot steer a group of people in a committee to produce anything over the course of a year you should be fired as a manager.

We also had issues as well with remote employees empirically not doing their jobs. Managements response? Nothing. No discipline, no plan of action, nothing. For local employees though you will get to deal with endless nitpicking of things that in no way matter. Out of sight out of mind I guess.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe hire managers with experience and not former techs who weren't very good at their job to begin with? If you do hire someone with no experience maybe provide them with some training?

Even management basics like timely feedback, actually coming into the office, and communication skills seem to be just beyond the capabilities of the associate managers in encryption support.
