I worked at Symantec full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They keep hiring people with visa problems but be ready to pay for it. On the other hand if you keep silent mode and work day and night you will have money for food.

    Cons

I was in mobile security management group. For last year they turned into 90% people from India team. It is not necessary bad but most of people are on US visas which not letting them change companies. Management on all levels treat them as slaves and it expand to all other people in the team. I was watching smart people leaving and nobody cares at all.
Customers are in danger using their mobile products, I would not ever use products knowing how they made and tested... It is done by slaves and amateurs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think current management would not be able to save company but may be bigger change may help

I have been working at Symantec (more than an year)

    Pros

The people I work with are wonderful. I was very excited to get a good paying job with such a great selection of benefits.

    Cons

The training and documentation left a lot to be desired, at least for our product. They just did a huge layoff of tech support people across the company, targeting not only weak performers but experienced techs, older workers, and people who used too many benefits this year. They're just looking for ways to make a fast buck, not have quality support or produce quality products.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make Symantec a place to retire from, not just a place on a resume.

    Pros

The environment is great to learn new technologies.
They pay you well and the mentor program is great.
The overall impression is very positive

    Cons

The management is without goals and like any other big company , there is lot of politics.
Work life is pathetic as they expect you to start work from first day. But there are some teams which are really good.

I have been working at Symantec full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Work wise it is good, some departments do not have opportunity to grow the career. It always depends on which department are you under with and who is your manager to make your life and career better.

    Cons

After having new CEO, new SVP and VP and much more changes in management, the vision of the company is distracted and it does impact individual employee a lot. Lot of people are quitting their jobs because of that. I would not recommend anyone to join this company at the movement atleast until next year, I would say after July 2015.

    Pros

Interesting tech and industry given it is continuously changing -- it's also a very hot-button topic as security relates to all sectors - consumer, business and gov't

    Cons

Tons of office politics. Terrible morale. No leadership. Continuous layoffs, exec departures and new leaders who don't know the business and don't have a clear direction
