    Pros

Absolutely outstanding technology. Opportunity to make a difference at the company and in the world.

    Cons

Difficulty executing. Culture at times complacent. Too many special projects for one-off customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Accelerate exit from traditional telecom. PTP will only get you so far. Invest in new technologies leveraging physics capabilities.

    Pros

Depending at what site you were working in; they encourage employees to advance their career by training them or by motivating them to get a degree. Departments would work as a team to get all the shipments out the dock in order to accomplish the quarter goals.

    Cons

Headquarters, needed to get more involve with other sites in order to better understand what was going on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some managers didn't communicate well with all their team players. Consequently, creating many silos that needed to be eliminated.

    Pros

Symmetricom was a nice place to work--with people who worked hard and were good at what they do.

    Cons

Since being acquired by the new company, things are somewhat unsettled and the culture is in flux.

I worked at Symmetricom full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Original True Time Management team at SR location were excellent to work with and for many original HP/Agilent folks that new the customers and their business inside and out and how to hire and treat employees with respect

    Cons

New management had a blatant policy of not hiring or promoting anyone who worked at the SR site. HR and VP level management left blatant discrimination unchecked in the work place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management in question have been ejected by the new owners so hopefully life improves for those still working here. Racial discrimination has no place in the California work place.

    Pros

Was just taken over by Microsemi. It is now the "FTD" division of Microsemi. Hopefully they will end up taking it in a better direction. I will be hanging around to find out.

    Cons

The entire upper management is gone. Leaving the middle management grappling for position and power. Pretty close to a hot mess.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to establish a path forward for new products or talent will continue to leave.
