    Pros

Growing business -always in acquisition mode. Well implemented SAP system. Knowledgeable managers, advancement opportunities. Compared to other companies I've worked for, much more value is placed on people

    Cons

The Germans have a high level of control in certain areas, and sometimes communication is difficult. High workload leads to backlogs in processing requests.

    Advice to Management

Stay the course - It works! The proof is in the results. I'm proud to be a Symrise employee.

    Pros

Interesting industry, lots of food tasting, and work life balance.

    Cons

Constantly changing direction, high turn over, no career path, lack of promotions, and expect lay offs.

    Advice to Management

Craft a consistent strategy and stick with it. Put the proper senior management in place and guide the ship.

    Pros

Decent benefits, 401k is decent. Nice place to work if you looking to get more work experience. They will pay for graduate school. Good place if you want exposure to flavor industry. Work staff overall is very nice and supportive.

    Cons

Management is myopic at best. They do not appreciate there employees. Most of the management is out to make themselves look good. Production seems to run the show. It's all about sales, QC management is afraid of production management, they can be easily convinced to change there mind. There is no real direction for employees, the management has their favorites. If you really want to advance your career probably not the place to be. Medical insurance sucks, raises suck. They do not really train, at least in QC they do not. They point fingers when something goes wrong.

    Advice to Management

Fire middle management and hire knowledgeable people in place of them. Be concerned with moral of the company and not how much faster the company push out a product. Quality of product should be the main concern, and not quantity.

    Pros

Generally good work atmosphere. Cares about employees. Your experience here (good or bad) really depends on what department you're in.

    Cons

Can't seem to find its way; has gone in many directions over the years. Periods of high turnover especially in management. Understaffed in some areas. Top management in Germany is strictly traditional and male-dominated.

    Advice to Management

Develop a clear company culture and direction. Too much negative "motivation", ie, if you don't do this, then this will happen. Make people want to come to work every day by creating a good atmosphere and positive messages.

    Pros

I had a long tenure at Symrise. Was given opportunities to develop expertise. A global company with strong R&D/Innovations investments.

    Cons

Being global and headquartered in Germany, the culture can be challenging when working in the US. Compensation was not always leading the industry. Benefits were good.
