    Pros

Company offered a chance to manage your work independently, spent a good deal of time out in the field and was able to take a "hands on" approach to managing projects

    Cons

Difficulty understanding exactly what upper management wanted, sometimes a project would get underway with a lot of momentum, and then be suddenly cancelled due to a "higher up's" indecisiveness. Felt like money and contracts were lost because of this.

    Pros

Started out as a very good job with a very stable company. Work was at times hectic but expectations were reasonable.

    Cons

Company was purchased by an equity capital firm and conditions went drastically down hill. Work assignments became erratic and expectations became unreasonable.

    Advice to Management

I don't recommend this company. Its a bad place to work and they are only interested in cost cutting, not doing quality work.

  3. Turn around. Run. As fast as you can.

    Pros

If you are a full-time farmer and want a side job working 'full time' at Synagro, then this is the place for you. If you have a small business and want to be a vendor to Synagro, then come on board--there is no such thing as a conflict of interest and double dipping is no problem. If you have connections in municipal governments and have flexible ethics, you have potential to make, literally, millions as a Synagro sales person. If you are passive-aggressive, 20-year tenure middle management in the field or in corporate HR then you have a nice little power fiefdom--you control this company regardless of who is CEO or on BOD. .

    Cons

If you are an hourly worker then do not work here unless you literally have no other choice. Your livelihood depends on the good graces of the person you report to. If he is a tyrant, you will be miserable. If he is a good person, he will likely be fired and will be replaced by a tyrant.

If you are any sort of manager being hired into the field organization then turn around and run. You are entering a nest of vipers. You will be used and/or destroyed.

    Advice to Management

Board of Directors: The management team you hired will not be able to change this company. The only way to extract value is part the company out into small, regional, standalone operations--break it up into the smaller, regional businesses that was Synagro before there was a Synagro.

Senior Leadership Team: Your days are numbered. I hope you negotiated a decent exit clause in your contract. Doesn't matter whether you are the current leadership team or a future leadership team. History repeats itself at this place.

    Pros

Location, Helping the environment, good mid level managers trying to do the right thing for their coworkers and customers.

    Cons

Poorly run, CEO with no strategic vision, revolving door for senior leadership, no financial growth for enterprise

    Advice to Management

Board should find new CEO as fast as possible. There is a lack of new ideas and new energy. People work very hard but get no where bc the CEO lacks vision and any measurable leadership skills - he can manage tasks all day but never moves the needle.

    Pros

There are no pros to this company

    Cons

No one knows what they are doing. Management is poor! I do not see this company being around much longer. Upper management is running this company into the ground. Closing offices, filing bankruptcy while upper management is taking huge a bonus. Employees that have been with the company for years have not seen a pay increase in years.

    Advice to Management

Take some classes in management if you are going to become a manager

    Pros

If you literally have no other source of income it pays the bills with the overtime. And valuable experience.

    Cons

Management is awful. They do not care if you fail they do not want fo teach you anything they just want a body to use and abuse until you cant give anymore. Also unsafe and unhealthy environment.

    Advice to Management

Fire all managment working in new haven ct plant. Theres a reasonyou go through more operators than you do sludge.

    Pros

Turning a waste product that use to go to landfills or to be burned in an incinerator (wasting precious resources such as natural gas) into a useable product for fertilizer or used for electrical generation etc.

    Cons

Handling human waste , Repair of pumps and mixers etc. that contain waste in them, Critical environments that can be potentially explosive, poisonous, hazardous etc. Having to wear the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment ) at all times no matter what the temperature is in the facility.

    Advice to Management

More openess on the communication between the company and the employees on future of the facility each employee is working in such as contract renewal, etc.

    Pros

This company used to be a great place to work for, until all of the good managers quit...WITHOUT jobs. That says something right there.

    Cons

    Management is terrible.
    There is no work/life balance.
There have been 4 CEO's in 3 years
Company laid several people off right before Christmas.
    Pay scale is not competitive
Was told we were not getting raises, but then a new dress code was enforced.
    NO COMMUNICATION!!!
The talented people are dropping like flies because management is incompetent.
Don't be tempted by the fake facade that they portray. Keep looking...you don't want to work here. Just read the other reviews.

    Advice to Management

Take a close look at to what is going on in Houston, before all you are left with is a bunch of idiots and temps that have no idea what is going on.

    Cons

Management belittles and yells at employees. Communication is weak at best. Clear expectations are not given.

    Advice to Management

Talk to employees as employees, don't talk down to them. Work on improving communication.
