    I worked at Syncrude

    Pros

offered me an opportunity to work on a world sale project in a leadership role
was able to work with a team through construction. commissioning and start up

    Cons

once the plant was started and ownership transferred to run plant operations i offered to move with it to provide operational training and advice to new team.
once complete i was informed i would be moving to a new project, this did not happen and my contract was terminated

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be more honest and truthful with contract staff, i stayed to help out but to my own determent, should have been more proactive in search for next opportunity, not trusting them to honor the commitments made
this however is the situation you place yourself in as a contractor

Fewer options for locations. Other companies are shifting positions to Calgary or offering fly-in, fly-out but Syncrude is staying Fort Mac-centric with a few jobs elsewhere.
