I have been working at Synergy HomeCare

    Pros

I have never before worked for a employer who truly treats others like he expects to be treated. The CEO has impeccable integrity and it permeates throughout the entire office. I really respect him and my co-workers. They don't just give lip service. Clients are their priority

    Cons

I really can't find anything lacking within this company.

I worked at Synergy HomeCare full-time

    Pros

Great Franchise Owners to work with! Most of the staff are kind, hard-working people who really do care about doing a good job. There is free parking, free coffee, and a nice office building.

    Cons

The Cons include: horrible corporate culture, tense atmosphere year-round, low compensation, bare minimum benefits, little recognition for good work or going the extra mile, written reprimands are the only form of job coaching or mentoring. Frequently, representations made to candidates during the interview process are misleading and incomplete.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees with respect and remember that it is their performance that impacts the bottom line. Mentor, train, praise, and reward. The stressful, fear-based management style may get instant results but only degrades the employees and kills morale.

Less than a handful of employees have made it to their second anniversary. "Deal with it or leave" is management's opinion of the corporate culture.

    I worked at Synergy HomeCare

    Pros

Most clients are nice and very appreciative to have your help

    Cons

Constant turnover in office staff. Office staff has no medical background or knowledge. Do not always make appropriate placement with clients and staff. Always a desperate scramble to fill last minute changes. Never consult their computer system for availability or scheduling conflicts

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop focus on advertising and focus on running business focused on client and your employees

I have been working at Synergy HomeCare full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Extensive orientation, use of newer technologies for documentation, great benefits, and an excellent support system.

    Cons

Must have strong experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing as many of the patients are elderly with many co-morbid conditions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Could use more one-to-one time to learn Oasis part of documentation and come up with ways to shorten these processes.

I have been working at Synergy HomeCare full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Concept is great. Franchise owners learn more about the business than staff.

    Cons

No communication. Unknown or unrealistic expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be willing to compensate your staff equally to other companies in the same industry. Work with staff and communicate effectively. Be present in YOUR business. Do not expect staff to always pick up the pieces. Hire a staff that works hard, but don't take advantage or expect them to work 24/7. I have enjoyed my experience here, but my thought of running a business includes being present and available when needed.

I have been working at Synergy HomeCare full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I was able to make a positive impact in many people's lives (both clients and caregivers). For our caregivers, it gave them the opportunity to gain experience and provide for themselves and their loved ones. For our clients, it allowed them to remain in their homes while still enjoying life and getting the help they needed.

    Cons

The home care industry serves its clients 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so it's pretty challenging to find a reasonable work/life balance. Also, at this office, we did not receive any health insurance benefits of any kind. The compensation offered did not match the time/effort commitment expected.
