    Pros

Large company with lots of employment opportunities. High expectations of employees. Adequate Salary. Good Benefits

    Cons

Lots of travel to small rural communities. Constant re-organization. A difficult mix of highly educated people and under-educated people with longevity.

    Advice to Management

The constant changes in the organization were difficult on employees

I have been working at Syngenta full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Important mission to feed the world. Lots of smart people to work with and interesting science. A global company with opportunities to work with people from across the world.

    Cons

Some of the worst management I have ever seen. Generally incompetent, particularly middle managers. Some higher level leaders are very good, but lower level managers cannot seem to solve basic problems.

    Advice to Management

Remove most of middle management and listed to people doing the work.

I have been working at Syngenta full-time

    Pros

Good benefits and training. With retirement of several employees coming up there should be opportunities for newcomers in the coming years

    Cons

European centric. More two companies within one as chemicals and seeds are not yet fully integrated even though strategy was rolled out 4.5 years ago

    Advice to Management

Maybe it is time for a change in direction. Seeds business struggling to make ground

    Pros

A few fantastic managers and intelligent people who make the environment tolerable.

    Cons

Definitely who you know that counts here. There are still people here with little or no education who have been here forever and are power hungry; they are ill equipped to handle change or manage anything, let alone other people who are educated and intelligent.

    Advice to Management

Interview and review employees and get rid of the dead weight, if you really want to save money. These people stand up for each other; there are people here that couldn't hold a job anywhere else, if they functioned the way they do here.

I have been working at Syngenta full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People care. Work life is emphasized as an important value. The longevity of the people who work there provide both stability and a testament to the environment. Global mobility is highly encouraged as you progress in the organization.

    Cons

A bit of a slower pace as a Swiss-based company. Processes a bit thick to navigate.

    Advice to Management

Make process changes easier. People who are trying to make changes for the better are getting slowed down due to laborious change requirements.

    I worked at Syngenta full-time

    Pros

Good benefits, Swiss company. Tries to do the right thing overall.

    Cons

Heavy beaurocracy, mired in politics and inertia. With few exceptions, extremely poor technical leadership. Immature managers promoted based on the Peter Principle. No attention to career development and few opportunities for growth. You are supposed to be grateful to have a job there. People stay There forever, which disincentivizes them to learn, grow, and adapt to change. Promotions are not based on qualifications or skills, so management is erratic and mercurial. Decision making is irrational, and colored by personal whim, self interest, and politics - not the betterment of the organization or its strategic vision. Thus the company itself suffers and will continue to struggle to keep up with its competitors. Pay is not competitive with the market in the U S.

    Advice to Management

Simplify the operation. Be less consensus driven. Take more risks. Invest in good people and trust them.

I worked at Syngenta full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great health coverage and company match for 401k Benefits, volunteer groups and team building. coworkers, location, vacation,

    Cons

Managers who don't belong in management position but rather in the science field they studied in. Poor leadership and lack of equal treatment of employees.

    Advice to Management

Hire educated and trained managers rather than someone who has worked there for 45 years and has a science background.
