I have been working at Syngenta full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good collegues, good benefits, good work environment. Had good vision but now it seems the focus is weaker.

    Cons

Outsourced HR and finance had added huge implications and inconvenience to all employees. The program of outsource might be better if it is properly managed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

"Do what you say" is very important.
Leaders should be risk takers for decision making and responsible for the outcome. Cost cutting is important but look at its impact too. Reward those who show actual tangible results will be a good way to encourage more of such behavior or people.

Used to be a really good company. Pity, it had changed much

    Pros

Syngenta is full of creative people who always go out of their way to help you, they are a good ethical employer. Syngenta are also a flexible employer with up to 39.5 days holiday a year!

    Cons

It can sometimes take forever to get Syngenta to make a decision, they are not the most dynamic organisation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The offices are dated and need a complete refurbish - they need to make Syngenta a place where people rally enjoy coming to work

I worked at Syngenta as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Good benefits and there are very nice persons

    Cons

A lot or persons doesn't care about their job only about travels, stuff and things like that, another point is that they are cutting a lot of positions and transferring it to persons that was dismissed in Switzerland.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think they should review their staff, they are spending a lot of money for things that if you had qualified persons that cares about what they are doing they would spend half of that amount. They are promoting persons with not clearly terms creating a less of commitment environment.

I have been working at Syngenta as an intern (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great salaries and benefits and good compensations.
Work environment and worklife balance are good. Mostly nice colleagues, who are open and helpful. Also some great talents around that could bring the company forward.

    Cons

Very limited funding for external training to help stay on top of the job.
Too much outsourcing/offshoring to "save" money - this results in loss of valuable knowhow and expertise, hence constantly reinventing the wheel.

    Pros

Good leadership. Performance based progression. Offer opportunities to explore new areas. Lay lot of confidence even in resources who have less skills. Good focus given to employee friendly policies.

    Cons

Bureaucratic environment. Too late decision making. Very little scope of employees to showcase their intelligence. Teams mostly working in silos (almost at an individual level).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote engagement within employees. Culture needs a real focus as it has been deteriorating over past few years.
