Pros
Competitive salary
Competitive benefits
Interesting problems that will keep you stimulated
Not lots of consistency over projects
Cons
Wasn't always clear of what I needed to do
No documentation
Too much change
Pros
most perks of a big company
offices in many countries
provides reasonable opportunities for career enhancement
Cons
not very flexible with "work from home", although that might be particular to my group
Pros
Everything is about the customer and their needs, which guides management in the right direction
Integrity is valued by management if not always practiced
Great co-workers
Good work/life balance
Encouraged to learn new technologies and methodologies
Cons
It is a conservative company and isn't willing to invest in development of new technologies and projects. New technology is aquired, not developed. So R&D does a lot of integration and maintenance.
Middle management is comfortable and slow moving. They are more interested in process and maintaning the status quo instead of driving new initiatives or thinking stratigically.
There are few or very restricted opportunities for advancement. (Management entrenched)
Advice to Senior Management
Take a chance on more aggressive in-house development. Don't just buy all your new technology
For the rolling layoffs, don't just target individual contributers. The company would be just fine with fewer VPs and Directors
Pros
the tech is good.
market is stable.
Cons
salary is not as good as some other company.
lack of growth.
Pros
Employees are very nice and extremely hard working. It's amazing how lean the company runs. Lot's a long hours. Very mixed culturally.
Cons
Communication is lacking. It's on a need to know basis and no one seems to be on the need to know list. There's no management by walking around. Most managers sit in there offices with the door closed all day. Managers do communicate at their level but do not communicate to their staff outside the requisite weekly staff meeting. There is a fear factor amongst the rank and file.
Advice to Senior Management
Communication can go along way. Your staff is working so hard- appreciate it.
Pros
Good place to learn and grow. It is a well managed company.
Cons
In general the market segment is limited and while generally it is stable
Advice to Senior Management
Invest more in key company asset (empoloyees) esp. making more competetive salaries and giving RSUs.
Pros
Cutting edge technology, lots of creative freedom.
Company is very stable.
Cons
Little if any praise from senior management after completion of large projects. Lacking in competitive salaries.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more agressive with salary increases, at the minumum with market levels.
Pros
Opportunity to grow - management provided me all opportunity that I want pursue for my career growth.
Work life balance.
Cons
Not much of training that happens for the employees.
No library.
No fun at work. No medical room. Poor medical insurance for employees.
Does not match pay-cheques that some other employer will offer for people with same skill set.
Advice to Senior Management
Arrange various types of training for soft-skills as well as technical skills for people at all level.
Pros
- Very Stable work place
- Well organized company
Cons
- not a good compensation
Pros
Industry leading company, very nicely profitable. Pays reasonably well and has attention to work/life balance. Most people are nice and competent.
Cons
Very little career opportunities, little room to grow, both in terms of salary as in terms of responsibilities. Some of the people that have been with the company for a long time have rusted into their position.
Advice to Senior Management
Hiring through acquisition only is not exactly motivating your current employees.
