Pros
Conservative
Flexible working hours
EDA leader
Better Job security
Cons
Low or No pay rises
No transparency
Internal politics
Lousy processes
Advice to Senior Management
Internal politics: between different business units; sometimes between two managers in same business unit etc is killing the actual "working" R&D and CAEs.
Fix Internal processes for quality delivery
Pros
Aart, he was very good as a motivator and his high work ethics and morals during my employment.
Cons
Very hard to get promoted, becoming a govt agency.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to common employee, get their feedback.
Need to do more M&A
Pros
Excellent employee benefits - healthcare, 401k etc, good payscale, bright people in different teams, highest quality of work, excellent reputation
Cons
Very difficult to move up the corporate ladder. A lot of employees quit and come back at a higher position.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide good growth opportunities for the younger workforce by promoting them to higher positions.
Pros
Stable/predictable source of income, job security.
Cons
Not good for young talents looking for excitment and entrepreneurship.
Advice to Senior Management
Reduce the hierarchy of management, inspire the R&D/CAE engineers (who are at the bottom and do the real work).
Pros
EDA leader
manages employees properly - good work-life balance
has some yoga/ fitnesss programs which not many companies [in EDA] have,
Cons
being a leader, company seems to have to gone into complacency... [may be,,,, bcoz it has become big in size]
since company knows it is a leader, that could be a reason why pay raises have stopped
Advice to Senior Management
keep track of smaller startups [as diff between snps products n competition startup products seem to be increasing]
Pros
Good salary, Structured and Organized work
Cons
No innovation, Process oriented, lack of promotions.
Pros
flexible work hours, training opportunities
Cons
not being very respected by hardware engineers and its management. very few team building events. it's hard to find colleagues at work.
Pros
Senior management is highly qualified and competent and have high level of integrity. They are very cautious in sailing thru current turmoil.
Cons
Couple of business units are highly inflated and medium level management. More focus is in shipping jobs overseas or at there low cost centers
Pros
Stable
Work can be interesting and challenging
Very capable and competent peer group-employees and managers are very high quality folks!
Work environment is pretty good. (Not spectacular - we could use a little more "fun" factor)
The bonuses pay pretty well consistently
The company works hard not to manage budgets with constant and deep headcount cuts
Very customer oriented and driven!
Cons
Too conservative about some things; not a risk-taking company; too much of "this is how we've always done it" or " we've already tried that (10 years ago) and it didn't work"
Take too long to make decisions
Lack of growth in the sector is affecting career mobility of younger workers - and there is a lot of very long time employees who are unlikely to leave and try something new
Advice to Senior Management
Employees want to hear from Aart and Chi-Foon about the plan to address Global Employee Survey feedback on Rewards and Recognition. Ultimately chosing not to give pay increases while still holding margins and significant cash has many folks feeling a little betrayed after ongoing hard work in very competitive industry.
Pros
Senior management takes a very good long-term view of the company and the industry. They take good responsibility for maintaining the computer infrastructure and the office facilities. Although much of the headcount growth is off-shore, they do not do widespread transfers of jobs from the US to off-shore (as their competitor Cadence was doing around 2004-2009). The company is well-positioned as the biggest EDA company. Employee turnover is much lower than many other Silicon Valley companies.
Cons
Most of the employees are mid-career or senior career. There's not a lot of employees in their 20's.
Advice to Senior Management
You're doing a great job: long-term steady planning and growth.
