I have been working at Syntel full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    1. If you join at PM level then its good. You can enhance your knowledge as there are NO PROJECTS
    2. PM only sits and do nothing but learn new technology if any reply to RFPs.
    3. Good for fresher

    Cons

In consulting they give you software engineer designation althouhg you have 8+ yrs of experiance. Very far office. You have to have complete 9 HRS in office. NO PROJECTS at all in Oracle Apps, SAP etc. Those they call project are all small technical work which is all trashed by several companies.
In short no pipleine, No Projects and nothing to do in office so within 6 months you will get frustrated.
Also never say Yes for H1B to them. They have bond of Rs. 5Lks for nine months. They just screw your career.
    DO NOT JOIN SYNTEL

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Do some branding specific to Syntel as contusing company
    - Bring minimum 2 projects so that your small strength of (less than 100 consultant) will get billable
-Change designation for consulting. How can a functional consultant in SAP be a "Software Engineer". ????
-Do not lie to candidates and play with their careers!!!!
    LAST be not least:
If org do not have interest in ERP practice then wind up ERP business. Do not just keep it rolling for few members..!!!! with their big fat salaries.

I have been working at Syntel

    Pros

    1) Good for freshers as you will get H1B easily if you are a good performer.
    2) There are few good people here and there who are good.
    3) People less then 5 years of exp can learn good things

    Cons

Being a small company they get pressurized by client to work with fewer resources on big projects with strict timelines. Resources generally work for 12 hours at offshore.
Potfolio manager only wants to promote himself and his friend. You will see him receiving all the awards which others deserve.
No clarity on growth if you have joined onshore.
H1B people who want to join for growth should not come here.
Think only as a stop Gap arrangement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Separate the reporting process of onshore and offshore employees.
Have a 360 degree feedback on managers.
    More clarity of roles

    Pros

The only reason an experienced proffesional would like to work here is you might get your visa initiated by your manager. Unless, you have a will to go onshore (for may be few days or months), its a waste of time.

The other reason you might wanna join this company is, Job security. Yes, Job is kind of secured here cos nobody is going to monitor you. Your manager himself/herself will have no idea what's going on so there is a rare chance that he/she dares to ask you what you are doing.

    Cons

Biggest con I'll say is, people here. People who have been here for more than 8 years. They are big time incapable. They can't even speak English properly.
    Very poor management.
They hardly bother what you have done in past or which reputed organization you come from. They want you to be a lazy/incapable syntellers.
It looks to be a nice building outside but you never know you might gonna sit infront of a celorn machine which used to be in trend 15 years back.
BEWARE, they might offer you good money but you gonna end up regretting if you join this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice. Advice is given to the one who is ready to adopt that. No matter how much this management try , they have got such an incapable people in charge of their project that they will end up loosing all their clients.

I worked at Syntel full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I had to think 10 mins to write pros about this company Except the fact they process your visa at a very early stage of career I dont see any other pros however Onshore pay is also in terms of peanuts!

    Cons

Very poor management, no work life balance. Highly experienced and skilled people are treated in a unfair way. Advice to others is to avoid this company unless you dont have any other choice. I regret spending almost 9 years with this company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be kind to the people who have stayed long and dont bais based on where a candidate hails from! If you treat employess like humans you will win any projects from any other competitior.

I have been working at Syntel full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

This is the place for one who seeks to learn new technologies, means you will get various options to update yourself.
All who have more than 3yrs of experienced will get onshore opportunity. Work quality is really good.

    Cons

Its on you to maintain work-life balance, you will get as much work as you want. If you are waiting to get some work in a team, you should not wait to get it. You have to continuously ask for it otherwise after some months you will see yourself in same situation. Don't look for any kind of increment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should continuously check that all the members in a team are getting any work or not. Otherwise they eventually get bored and leave.
