I worked at Syntel full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Personal growth - negative
perks - worst than a begger
    company values - worthless values

    Cons

This company asked me to pay for 69 extra days of leave mentioning I have utilized more than 65 days which was mine leave, while in my latest three paystubs, the leave was showing 120 days. How they have calculated they only knows. A third graded Indian consultancy firm claiming they are a reputed US company.
Cheapest of all policies are been kept, not to pay the employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bharat Desai, should see the policies for the employees and for the company. Since he is checking the revenue, which is nothing but a profit cut from the employees benefits and reimbursements.

I have been working at Syntel full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Good pay. Opportunity to travel.

    Cons

Antiquated gender- and hierarchy-based culture. Poor interview process - designed to get seats filled quickly, but not with the right person just the first OK person. Non-existent communication. Double standards abound. 24 hour working is common (e.g., meeting request for 11pm). No training or personal development - HR will say they're looking in to it, but will never follow up. Lip service performance management process - prewritten 'goals'. Employees are encouraged to focus on looking good rather than on doing a good job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support and engage your employees. I've been with Syntel several months and have yet to even meet my manager... I've asked for information on client-specific training and have received no reply. Etc...

    Encourage employee accountability.

Communicate openly - treat employees as professionals.

I have been working at Syntel full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Few good clients which drive the revenue for Syntel. Make sure you ask that before you join Syntel other wise you are doomed.

    Cons

Only a few good clients which drive the revenue for Syntel. Less diversified cleint base. Looks like Syntel has put all eggs in 1 basket and are struggling to gain the trust of new customers. There are 2 main reasons for this:
    1. New clients do not want to talk to Syntel sales team unless they have something niche to offer. Syntel obviuosly doenot have much experience in Niche areas like mobility, pega, IT transformation, Recon etc. So they do the easiest thing which is lie to their customers. They prepare nice PPTs to fool their customers which works only seldom. Most customers find out in the 1st week that they have been lied to and donot want to work with Syntel again. Syntel is a very good PPT factory.
    2. In a few cases where they are able to find good resources for these niche areas, Syntel's poor HR policies (insurance, leave, expenses, variable component, relocation etc etc.) frustate these resources to such an extent that they leave the organization in their 1st 6 months

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revisit/ Change the HR policies if you want to gain the trust of employee. The resources you hire for Niche areas are worth their value in gold. Preserve them.
