I have been working at Syracuse University full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

generous time off, plus paid green days (vacation days) for time periods that the students are not on campus, for example the university will give you extra paid days off around Christmas time due to students not being there, so it doesn't make sense to run the campus.

    Cons

The university makes staff and faculty pay for their parking passes, the price depends on the location of the lot you need to park. the university may not honor parking pass during dome event, which is very frustrating if you need to get to work and can't park anywhere .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Thank you for the great benefits such as time off and tuition benefits. Health insurance is costly, but that can be found with any establishment. Overall, a great place to work.

I have been working at Syracuse University full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great work environment, collegial faculty and administration, up-to-date facilities, and very bright students. Always pushing to keep current with world and industry events and processes.

    Cons

Pay raises are a joke, barely keeping pace with yearly cost-of-living increases. Negotiate firmly at hiring or you'll regret it later.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As nice as it is to always throw money at new hires and new initiatives, administration should properly compensate the existing faculty that put and keep the school in the top ranks of its field.

I have been working at Syracuse University part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Syracuse has multiple competitive programs within the department, creating a high-performance environment. The facilities make sure that the external factors will help a program get to a higher level.

    Cons

The weather would definitely be one, especially for sports that are usually played outdoor. Parking possibilities are limited as well, since the students can park near the athletics facilities as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Expand locker room facilities for employees within the athletic complex. And increase parking facilities for employees that aren't on the pay roll list as well.

I have been working at Syracuse University part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Work schedule is up to you for the majority of the time except for important meetings, seminars, etc. Opportunity to work with extremely intelligent professors and graduate/Ph.D students.

    Cons

Will depend on Professor/Supervisor. Payment is based on written time sheets. Sometimes this process causes delays in payment.

I have been working at Syracuse University part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good place to work, good work culture, chance to learn, good for people without experience, people with mixed intellectual ideas, helps one build profile

    Cons

Too many people working on one project, teams should be divided as required for the project. Some people try to use their authority over others while all are at same level

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The upper management is good just they should be aware of making head or manager to manage the project
